The Last Breath

Of a warm summers night in Juniper Canyon…oh how I love this time of year here!

DSC03659

Its heaven on earth to this cowgirl…the sounds of various birds and critters…in the distance I can hear neighbors yet harvesting…and the magical light is soooo pretty!

DSC07366

I’m outside every summer evening and then some to not miss anything! WB likes to watch TV so he does that to relax but for me it’s being outside as much as I can! I love it!

DSC07132

We just got home from a trip to Portland, 550 miles round trip, whew!

DSCN0978

As soon as we got home I took off the city clothes and put on the country girl clothes that I will forever be me in…

DSC09251

I do love getting dressed up for special times and things but its hard to take the country cowgirl out of me for very long before I need my jeans or crops this time of year, a simple tee-shirt and of course one of my various cowgirl belts…and I’m home:)

DSC07079

Once I made the change it was Ellie’s turn to play, she usually goes with us but today was going to be a long drive for her as in boring…

DSC04820

I watered my many flowers and also watered my water dog…Ellie loves loves loves water! So we be playing…she is such a good good girl:)

DSC08917

And for reasons unknown Pat the Cat, (he’s the orange one), one of our “Lion” barn cats likes to hang out with Ellie, so he comes up from the barn to visit and he also brought his companion, our other Ellie, named Ellie as she was found in an elevator as a kitten someone abandoned, am so glad that she is ok and doing well! We have Ellie the Cat and Ellie the Dog:)

DSC08376

Sun has set and its getting dark…Stone Coyotes singing on my iPod…love them! I have many fav’s from Outlaw Country on XM radio…love that station!

DSC08766

Same ol’ blah blah me here tonight…I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer evening…an having a perfecto memorable summer too! God night all:)

DSC08834

And remember God has the night shift with all your worries…over and out from HRCG, brought to you live from Juniper Canyon on an incredible summer night!

Yee-Haw!!!

Fragile Seconds Between Life And Death….

A few weeks ago we were on the way home from Seattle, WA. on a fast and furious Sunday. We delivered a customer vehicle to its owner that morning…

_MG_5458

WB, Ellie and I got up super early in the wee morning hours and hit the trail to Seattle, WA. which for us is I-82 to I-90…about 200 miles, one way.

We were excited to deliver the outrageous, flashy red “69” Barracuda back to her owner, he was so excited to see his girl and drive her again! It was a joy to me to meet the owner and his lovely wife…and also their friends who had seen them through the Barracuda frame off restoration.

DSC08705

After unloading the Barracuda we went in search of a gas station that sold diesel…when we tow our triple axle 30′ car trailer with our crew cab dually, we are the same length as a semi truck and trailer…it’s hard to maneuver in tight places, which would be gas stations with lots of small cars running in and out, cutting you off.

All the delays we experienced on that Sunday morning, were a blessing, as the delays kept us safe.

We got back on I-90 about 11:50am….traffic was heavy but we were getting through it and closer to Ellensburg, WA. where we hoped the heavier traffic would disappear as we turned towards Yakima.

DSC04352

It was about 12:45 pm and I turned to check Ellie to make sure she was doing ok and then I heard WB say “HANG ON!!!”

I turned and saw several cars and pick ups crashing and one going backwards in front of us…no warning or time to react, it all happened so fast!

IMG_3341

By God’s grace, WB was able to get us stopped, our empty car trailer has a weight of 6000 pounds. That’s a heavy load on the hitch and that weight pushes against us in stopping quickly…the trailer tires were ruined but we were stopped and alive! If we had a car in the trailer, adding more hitch weight on us, we may not have been able to get stopped.

5782f94634e16.image

Directly in front of us was a small white SUV…and then the massive wreck. You can see our pick up and trailer with our name on it and the small white SUV right behind the Washington Department Of Transportation truck. As soon as WB got us stopped…we both watched our side mirrors wondering if we would also get hit from behind or the sides. We had lots of smaller cars behind us that got stopped but were sitting  kittywampus or crooked, as well as RV’s and pick ups with boats…all miracles in that they were able to stop without warning like us.

5782f6443d52a.image

Once we saw it was safe to get out, and no one was going to crash into us…WB grabbed our first aid kit and told me to sit tight with Ellie and pray…and I prayed and prayed hard.

The driver of the small white SUV that separated us from the wreck, told us later that he, his wife and two daughters were on vacation from Georgia, he told us”by God’s intervention, we got stopped behind him, as all he could see in his mirror was our big rig and he knew if we hit them it would not be good.” WB was ready to drive us off into the median to avoid hitting him or anyone and we agreed, God was there that day in all our lives!

IMG_3612

As  a grateful cancer survivor, I know life is lived right now and in the moment…I truly appreciate it! We never know what today will bring to our lives…life is sacred with each breath we take!

My heart goes out to all the injured and their families…one passenger was gravely hurt, they did cpr for over an hour, unfortunately they did not survive. Those who had serious injuries went to the hospital once the medics arrived.

Traffic was backed up behind us 22 miles on I-90, as the freeway was closed for several hours. After three hours of waiting, they opened a single lane of freeway up so that we all could head for home.

DSC08726

I took the photos above and below when we got home that Sunday evening. No storm or rain and yet, the double rainbow lasted for several minutes. I felt it was God letting me know He was protecting us and He also had those who stepped into His arms in heaven.

DSC08718

We continue to pray for all of those who were involved in the wreck, the families of those who did not make it and also to those who did. I give thanks for those who helped, performing first aid until the paramedics arrived and to the nurse who stopped her vehicle in the opposite lanes and came to help. God bless all of you…I pray healing on all your lives.

OregonTrip_117

And to my husband who was in control of our truck and trailer, he got us stopped safely, and then he went to help those directly involved. He has always been my White Knight and yup he still is!

scan0013

I love you WB:)

DSC05279

Praying that you will be blessed wherever you are…wishing you a peaceful weekend! Your lives are precious…HRCG is over and out for now but hang on, I will be back!

I’m Back…I’m Back…Yup I Am!

I’m back…I’m back…yep I am!

From the adventure of surgery and I’m feeling like me again!

DSC07226

And I hate this part as I feel good enough to do more but my body says “yeah right gf, go ahead and try”…so I’m taking it slow.

But doing more each day…grabbing life and as usual hanging on tight for the ride of my life! It always feels dang good too…that ride thing on my horse’s back:)

DSC06948

I am truly sorry for being so long in posting a new post…I have thought of you all daily but I have been too tired to do much of anything.

DSC07208

And last week we had a severe weather alert…and a tornado warning….scary yes and whoa…tornado?

DSC07214

Here in this corner of Eastern Oregon we do not get tornadoes…ever…and now it is becoming a common experience each year with a tornado alert!

DSC05204

OK Kansas., now quit that…you can keep the tornadoes and we will keep our peaceful fluffy white clouds along with the man in the moon each night!

DSC04079

And we have hit over a 100 degrees already…unheard of in June here…another record and a first…not good for the wheat at all!

DSC07143

And I’m back…all is well and all is ok! I have tons of pictures to capture to make up for lost time and posts! Hang on and know I am not going anywhere! Wishing you all a wonderful evening with good stuff from me…

HRCG, Ellie, Melody, Dasher, Tucker and Wild Bill we’re over and out for now…but not for long!

Yup, I’m over and out for now…but lucky you, I’ll be back!

Happy New Years…2016 Has Arrived!

Happy New Years!

DSC00398

I hope your brand new year takes you on glorious adventures, full of fun and joy with many blessings on you and your family…and on your life!

DSC05407

This morning as I looked out on a brand new year, I thought of my Great Grandmother Anne Marie looking out the same kitchen window at the same view wondering how she felt on a brand new year here in the 1920’s.

DSC03009

Was she like me…did she wonder a bit with a tad bit of worry…but with a hopeful heart…did she embrace life here?

Scanned Image 2

I thought of my Mom looking out the same kitchen window and wondering what the brand new year would mean to her and to her hubby and of course her ding-dong daughter as she became a teenager…did she smile or did she feel like time was speeding by too fast.

DSC07153

With every year that I live here, I appreciate my heritage, the memories…both sad and happy and I know but I know God has me in His hand.

scan0023

We are not to spend time looking back on what was or what could have been…we are to move forward and onward, living each day one at a time…its hard to do, but when we let go of the past, life flows forward with good stuff…if we trust that it will…it does!

DSC01869

A new year brings a fair amount of creative wonderment of what we could do and what we will do…

CCI00001

I pray this year will be fruitful, with great blessings on our lives filled with joy.

DSC05341

If I begin to worry about whats ahead this new year I hear my favorite scripture…and God speaking to me saying, now remember cowgirl, you are to trust Me!

SONY DSC

“For I know the plans I have for you “declares the Lord” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future, then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

DSC02176

Amen! I can attest that this is very very true!

SONY DSC

May 2016 be a year of great blessings in your life…may it be filled with joy, laughter, hope always and love…may it be a year you will see your dreams come true!

SONY DSC

HRCG and her gang are over and out for now but never for long:)

Foggy Winter Days Descend On Juniper Canyon!

Foggy winter days descend on Juniper Canyon…ranging between gloomy gray days and more gloomy gray days!

DSC02063

Between freezing fog, icy roads…cold temps and snow…winter has arrived in the North Country!

SONY DSC

This year I decided to fight the gloom instead of succumbing to the dreariness at hand. Thanksgiving week reminded me to make my yearly list of gratitude and blessings to share at dinner on turkey day.  The day after Thanksgiving, I thought why not keep my gratitude list going…remembering good stuff and good times while adding them to my “Christmas Cheer and Twinkle List.”

DSC03153

“And I’m making my list to see who was naughty or nice..and I’m checking it twice!” Ok I’m snickering and I hope you are too. It’s more fun to remember the silly times, the good times…and the heart of your memories that only you can share…I love it! Makes me laugh and cry at the same time while keeping a heart full of country cowgirl gratitude.

07052010_00029

I’m thankful for my life and the many blessings in my life…ten years on 2-9-2016…get your mammogram!

Scan

My first blessing of gratitude is my hubby….I love “Wild Bill” and appreciate him everyday. I am blessed to be his and to call him my soul mate, husband and best friend:) He always makes me smile:)

SONY DSC

“I’m coming Melody…hang on”…as I am slip sliding down the hill to feed her breakfast. I love each of my horses forever, once they come to live with me, they are my forever horse…and I love my Melody. I am thankful for all my horses and having the privilege of riding horses all my life while growing up on a cattle ranch.

Dad and I Herding Cattle

I thought everyone had a cattle ranch as a kid…eventually, I came to realize how lucky and blessed I was to experience life on a remote cattle ranch. Without radio, television or any kind of civilization, ranch life taught me a lot of life skills of survival. You learn to think outside the box…when its you and often you alone…you learn how to problem solve as you have to figure it out.

Scanned Image 1

During the summer and fall months, I grabbed on to each day to ride for cows with my Dad…and almost everyday we did just that…25,000 mountainous acres and 800 head mama cows with babies and several head of bulls…kept us busy all summer and fall.

DSC01951

Each day that I look out our windows, I love our log fence…yup it’s a keeper…its great for capturing interesting views year round! I love the look and it fits this old ranch house!

DSC01977

I love my 60′ round corral with nice sand footing…and our barn cats give it a four paws up on their 60′ litter box!

DSC02043

And then there is our “Tucker Watch Girl”…she can be very serious! She is such a blessing to us as she is always waiting for us and follows us where ever we go!

SONY DSC

Tucker is in the back of the Aussie pack and bashful…then Kiah as she is in front of Tucker…then Dasher who is in front of Kiah…and in the lead is Mr. Auzzie….all four of our dogs in this photo are rescue Aussies…we love them each individually and as a pack…they are amazing dogs, super smart and so loved:) By the way, Kiah is half-sister to Ellie, our sweet two year old girl!

DSC01996

And then, there are horse’s soft noses:) Nothing like their breath mingling with yours…and their smell is truly heavenly…sounds silly unless you know this horse owner fact too that, cleaning a horse stall does not smell bad at all! Horses are blessings to the heart and soul…and they give me peace with lots of happy smiles. When I get on my horse, WB says I get this little girl smile on my face of pure joy:)

DSC01435

And my Minnie Mouse…she was beautiful in heart and spirit…she knew when you were sad and she knew when it was time to celebrate…she was with me for almost 20 years. She crossed the rainbow bridge a bit over a year ago…it was incredibly hard. I am thankful for every year of her sweet life and for everyday that she was with me, she was my kitty girl and wherever I went she was with me. She was an incredible kitty girl…I was blessed beyond imagination:)

DSC01992

Back to my round corral…I seriously love it! I appreciate the hard work WB and our cowboy son Curt put into building it for me. I will do a post on that someday soon!

DSC03738

I am thankful for the blessing of Ellie…she makes me laugh every day and is full of love with lots of heart. She walked with me through sad times and grief when I lost Minnie…she was gentle and loving during our hard days. I’m sure Minnie asked God for a helper knowing how hard it would be for us when she crossed the rainbow bridge and Ellie Belle is my helper and so much more…she is my buddy, my joy and my heart:)

DSC05445

The gloomy gray days of fog can only be gloomy, if we choose them to be. Instead I smile, bundle up in my Carhart’s grab my camera and head out to find something to photograph. Whether I am inside the house or outside, I seek to do things that make my heart sing! Inside the house I often crank up my tunes and dance…wood floors make it super fun too:)

DSC02294

Smile…click click click…gotcha!

DSC00398

We are blessed to call this spec of earth our home…especially with shots like this:)

DSC01519

Being grateful is one of the best gifts we can give to ourselves…loving what we have instead of what we don’t have…if we can focus on the positive instead of the bad…the good more than the bad…we’ll find peace and smiles…

DSC00694

Wishing you all a warm week and weekend ahead…we have snow, freezing rain, winds are blowing and its cold! I need some tea or eggnog to warm up:)

DSC01041

It’s time to decorate the Christmas tree…Ho Ho Ho…HRCG Over And Out For Now…But Never For Long:)

A Quiet Reverence Of Snow…

A quiet reverence of snow falls softly on the land…as life holds its breath.

 DSC06118

There is something about snow falling out here in the middle of nowhere that brings a silence of holiness…as time seems to stands still.

DSC06037

Silence fills your heart with purity as the small white flakes fall quietly around you.

What

The silence brings sad memories too of loosing my sweet kitty girl, Minnie Mouse a year ago yesterday…

DSC06069

While I know she is safe and someday I will see her again,

DSC01435

I miss her presence and her sweet spirit…

SONY DSC

Her beautiful green eyes and her kind kitty girl heart.

DSC06118

Tonight as I write it is super cold, with icy roads and fog that drifts in and out of our canyon.

Old memories come back each holiday season as I miss the loss of relationship with family and miss those who are no longer with us. I miss the old days…and the old ways.

DSC00814

I hope that you all have a wonderful turkey day tomorrow, with lots of good stuff…new memories, good food and always lots of laughter. The second turkey we cooked on our Traeger….oh my, it is darn good! Whoo-Hoo and so easy too! If you don’t have a Traeger yet, get one as they are worth it!!! Everything you cook on them is absolutely delicious!!!
