It’s been a long time since we had a normal winter here…

Of a warm summers night in Juniper Canyon…oh how I love this time of year here!
Its heaven on earth to this cowgirl…the sounds of various birds and critters…in the distance I can hear neighbors yet harvesting…and the magical light is soooo pretty!
I’m outside every summer evening and then some to not miss anything! WB likes to watch TV so he does that to relax but for me it’s being outside as much as I can! I love it!
We just got home from a trip to Portland, 550 miles round trip, whew!
As soon as we got home I took off the city clothes and put on the country girl clothes that I will forever be me in…
I do love getting dressed up for special times and things but its hard to take the country cowgirl out of me for very long before I need my jeans or crops this time of year, a simple tee-shirt and of course one of my various cowgirl belts…and I’m home:)
Once I made the change it was Ellie’s turn to play, she usually goes with us but today was going to be a long drive for her as in boring…
I watered my many flowers and also watered my water dog…Ellie loves loves loves water! So we be playing…she is such a good good girl:)
And for reasons unknown Pat the Cat, (he’s the orange one), one of our “Lion” barn cats likes to hang out with Ellie, so he comes up from the barn to visit and he also brought his companion, our other Ellie, named Ellie as she was found in an elevator as a kitten someone abandoned, am so glad that she is ok and doing well! We have Ellie the Cat and Ellie the Dog:)
Sun has set and its getting dark…Stone Coyotes singing on my iPod…love them! I have many fav’s from Outlaw Country on XM radio…love that station!
Same ol’ blah blah me here tonight…I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer evening…an having a perfecto memorable summer too! God night all:)

I’m back…I’m back…yep I am!
From the adventure of surgery and I’m feeling like me again!
And I hate this part as I feel good enough to do more but my body says “yeah right gf, go ahead and try”…so I’m taking it slow.
But doing more each day…grabbing life and as usual hanging on tight for the ride of my life! It always feels dang good too…that ride thing on my horse’s back:)
I am truly sorry for being so long in posting a new post…I have thought of you all daily but I have been too tired to do much of anything.
And last week we had a severe weather alert…and a tornado warning….scary yes and whoa…tornado?
Here in this corner of Eastern Oregon we do not get tornadoes…ever…and now it is becoming a common experience each year with a tornado alert!
OK Kansas., now quit that…you can keep the tornadoes and we will keep our peaceful fluffy white clouds along with the man in the moon each night!
And we have hit over a 100 degrees already…unheard of in June here…another record and a first…not good for the wheat at all!
And I’m back…all is well and all is ok! I have tons of pictures to capture to make up for lost time and posts! Hang on and know I am not going anywhere! Wishing you all a wonderful evening with good stuff from me…

Low rumbles of thunder grab my attention…
As the clouds build and gather over us…
It is eerily quiet as the rumbles grow closer…
Our sunshine and blue skies slowly disappear…
A stir of a breeze sends my wind chimes gently swaying…here comes the dust storm…
And…BOOM!
Run for cover Ellie…C’mon lets go!
Its a busy crazy time of year here and I’m slow with posting…

Ellie’s red rubber ball is a very serious thing currently!
We play tug a lug and throw it baby…throw it!
Our grandma dog, Tucker, spies Ellie’s new ball…she was a frisbee dog in her younger years…
“Hmmm, that red ball should be mine!”
“Oh yeah…well pooh on you Tucker!”
“Its Mine…”
“Mine Mine Mine!”
Yep I think it’s hers:)
“I can still grab it…she’s such a smart alec!”

“Fall” fell fast upon Juniper Canyon…
We went from a HOT 100 degrees a week ago to a low of 38 degrees last night…our weather has been weird and crazy the last few years…and this was a blessed but crazy weather event!
A half-inch of rain fell overnight…and a half-inch of rain is a glorious blessing!
Ellie and I did the happy dance…
Of course the wind blew all day…causing some dust to blow…
But…we got rain! It was incredibly peaceful hearing it on the roof last night lulling us to sleep…and waking up today seeing rain puddles outside:)
Yep we are care takers of the land and we love seeing it watered with heaven’s glory and grace…
And the fires in Oregon had a mix of God’s grace with snow and rain but mostly snow…it helped huge:)
Fall is in the air and Melody is smiling! Click on the picture and you will see her smiles:)
I hope for more fall rains to come…with raindrops falling on my head:)

Holy Cowz!
Hot N Crazy Daze Have Descended Upon Juniper Canyon!
Along with dust storms without wind. Its eyrie when the dust begins to rise without the wind!
Creepy unusual clouds above my head…
Almost makes you feel like you are in the Outer Limits or the Twilight Zone!
Kaaaa-Boom the thunder and lightning began. I was over feeding Melody and saw the strike hit…
The first fire of the season was born with winds blowing in our direction…we live about 10 miles from here if we drive the road but across country it is only 5-6 miles with lots of wheat fields in between.
Our neighbors and community jumped into action and thankfully no one was hurt, no homes were lost and the fire was out! Sadly they lost several hundred acres of wheat.
Scary times here as we have been declared a drought county…
Last night it was 73 degrees at 11:30…that is hot for us this time of year…
We have hit above 100 degrees most of the month of June…with a week straight of 110 plus degrees!

Tonight as I close we are under another fire weather warning…
... Red flag warning remains in effect this evening for thunderstorms producing abundant lightning and gusty outflow winds for Oregon fire weather zone 641... * affected area... fire weather zone or 641... lower Columbia Basin of Oregon. * Timing... most of the lightning activity will occur between 3 PM and 8 PM. * Lightning activity... 3... possibly 4. * Precipitation... some storms will bring heavy rain with amounts up to one half of an inch possible. * Impacts... any fires that develop will have the potential to spread rapidly. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
I came across this a long time ago and it hits the nail on the head for people who blame their problems and mistakes on their family or on their parents or on the man in the moon. They blame every problem they have on someone else, unfortunately until they quit telling lies and using manipulations, until they admit their wrongs and look only to themselves, they are a lost cause. I know people that are very good at lying, really good and they roll along sucking people into their lies. They believe their lies so much they create a false truth and will defend their lies at any cost to you or anyone else. I agree with this poster…Hallelujah and Amen!

Life with Ms. Ellie has been one of the greatest blessings and events of our life this summer.
Here she is at six weeks of age…before we brought her home. She is adorable and then some with her sweet eyes and fun disposition.
She is so smart and attentive to life around her.
Do you remember Kiah? She is the one in front in this photo from last summer. She is a half-sister to Ellie. They both have the same father. Kiah was super smart…hard to explain but she was smarter than Tucker and Dash…and they are smart. Kiah and Ellie are much more connected to you in relationship and they discern events before they happen…very intuitively smart…good watch dogs…and very protective.
And here is Ms. Ellie the day we brought her home, meeting Tucker, she was 9 weeks and very cute:) She snuggled in my lap the 6-7 hours it took to get home and never got sick…she immediately fit into our hearts:)

And what is she doing but crawling under the fence to snag a horse nugget!
“Honest Mom…I’m only eating two-horse nuggets!”
“Mom I saw Ellie eat three nuggets!”
“Uh-uh no I only ate two really…look at my eyes, I love you Mom.”
And she was soooooo excited after the terrible storm we had that appeared to be some kind of funnel cloud that swept up millions of horse nuggets, depositing them in her yard just for her to have for snacking!
I love the way Ellie lays in the yard…her usual pose as she likes the feel of the cool grass under her…she is so cute:) Can you tell I’m a push over with my girl?
Ellie and I walk together for exercise and to burn off some of the puppy energy she has. Ellie is 15 weeks old now, you can see the maturity coming in her eyes.
And yet as we are heading out for our walk, passing by the arena, I feel a tug behind me on the leash…what? “Ellie, what are you doing….oh geez, more horse nugget snacks sidetracked her!” What is it about horse poop that cow dogs are drawn to? By the way notice her copper bottom is in the shape of a steer head…her little steer head bottom makes me smile no matter what! I loves her lots and lots! We are making many good memories together that I will carry in my heart forever.
Like the first time I took her to our vet for her next vaccination, she was about 11 weeks old. Wild Bill could not go with us that day, darn it! I could not drive and hold her on my lap to comfort her from the intimidating feeling of the Suburban. I had lots of rags just in case she got sick etc. Well about half way to town I smelled it…oh my gosh!!! She had pooped a very smelly one in the back of the Burb! She was so scared that it scared it out of her…I felt so sorry for her. I pulled over to clean it up but I did not have any paper towels or napkins…typical! I figured out a way to hold her in my lap and drove the rest of the way to town one-handed, as I worried for her being scared and was afraid she would walk in it! As soon as we got to the vet’s they had stuff for me to use to clean it up! Ahhhhh yes puppy love! Nothing like picking up smelly gooshy puppy poop with a thin paper napkin….eeeeew!
Minnie decided Ellie is ok…they give each other respect for being different, which is good. Ellie would love to play with Minnie, but I told her, NO, not until Minnie is ready…Minnie has to know you better. Yet Ellie will protect Minnie if she ever needs it as she looks at her as part of her family. That is the true heart of an Aussie…they love and protect their family.
Kiah would have loved Ms. Ellie too…she would approve. We miss you and love you forever Ms. Kiah:)
“Come on Mom, let’s go explore some more!” Ellie loves our walks as do I! And as I bring this post to a close, Minnie is in her chair with her heat pad on, all snuggled down on one side of me and Ellie is asleep on my feet as I type on the other side of me:) I love our animal babies….each and every one of them:) May you be blessed tonight, knowing that your animals love you and need you…have a wonderful tomorrow!
