Hot Rods Of This And That On HRCG!

Hot Rods of this and that on HRCG is another segment of photos taken the last few years and it may explain the Hot Rod Cowgirl name of my blog.

If you are a serious car guy you will love this post…you can double-click on my photos and they will enlarge:)

In this post I want to share some of the restored vehicles that my hubby has created for our customers.

I hope you enjoy seeing a few of these incredible restorations, custom builds and amazing rides.

Hang on and here we go…Zoom Zoom!

We attend many car shows during the year to display our workmanship and to showcase the vehicles. This is our display at the Portland Roadster Show…we often showcase some of the recent customer vehicles to show the quality of the restorations we do…and people love to walk through our 30′ car trailer as we have photos displayed inside of various cars we have restored and built. We run videos of the vehicles through out the restoration…some restorations have 1000 hours in them from start to finish.

Portland was the beginning of many large car shows to follow…

As well as summer shows that are held in smaller towns with a sense of community and country fun…often the shows attract well over 350 cars with the show held in the downtown area which is nice, we women can shop!

Roadster Show 3-1-06 028

The photo above is one of my favorites. It was taken at the Portland Roadster Show the year we took 10 of our customer vehicles that WB restored…every car you see was restored and rebuilt to perfection. We brought home 12 trophies that year!

The first year we attended the Portland Roadster Show, we took three of our restorations to display etc. I had been diagnosed with bc a few weeks before the show…WB said no we can not go…I told WB nope we are going to the show! This is the part of the business that is my part, I had approached the Roadster Show about coming…and it was an honor to be chosen to display our work and we were going!

Only the vehicles which show complete perfection are selected to attend…so in a way you have already won to a degree if you are chosen to display your cars. We had six customer restorations displayed at the 2010 Roadster Show…we won six classes and brought home six trophies!

WB is giving me “The Look” as  he does not like me taking pictures of him….ha! The cars right behind him were our display that first year…1931 Blue Ford Tudor…1948 Red Chev. Pick Up…1946 Ford Tudor with the flames. Guess what? All three vehicles won Best Of Class in their respective classes and that is out of 550 cars, it was the 50th Portland Roadster Show! We were so pumped!!!

I love this 1946 Ford Tudor, it’s a go fast and has all the comforts of today’s car, plus WB’s flames…and Wild Bill is famous for his signature flames!

Mr. Blue has won six times at the Roadster Show with us over the years…this 1931 Ford Tudor is incredibly cool!

Another one of my favorites and I would LOVE to drive it:)

TV interview day in the Secret Lab with Wild Bill! I love this…my entire married life to WB I have waited for this to happen! I love seeing WB get credit for the work he has done over many years….and I love seeing him talk…hee-hee…he is not a talker and was a nervous wreck!

My hubby is MacGyver to the car world as he has the vision to see a rusted pile of junk restored into a regal vehicle.

The first night of set up at a smaller show of 200 cars….we took the Ford Tudor to display and also some of our flame plates. Wild Bill does a lot of flame plates for the customers in their choice of colors so they can see the color and decide if it is the right one for their car.

I am planning to do a post on one vehicle with before photos and during photos…

This GTO had major rust and the quarter panels had to be changed as well as the floor of the entire vehicle.

And after photos so you can see the process…as it is amazing!

Hang on as we are going to switch gears grabbing more horsepower!

Whew this tire cleaning is hard work and I need a break…

Ahhhh…just what I needed:)

Have a great weekend! HRCG over and out for now…but never for long!

Hot Rod Cowgirl Nominated For The 2013 Blog Of The Year Award!

Hot Rod Cowgirl Nominated For The 2013 Blog of the Year Award!

Blog Of The Year 2013…Wowzers! Minnie Mouse Of The House says Meowzers!

Ellie says Bowzers! Look at her jump for joy!

Melody, Buck, Annie, Pat, Tucker and Dasher are excited as they have enjoyed entertaining you and keeping me busy blogging:)

It seems only a few days ago that I accepted this awesome nomination the end of 2012…and where did the last year go?

And Wowowow! I’m excited to receive a nomination for the 2013 Blog of the Year Award from Sharla at

Sharla opens Catnipoflife with a line of wisdom that is so very true!

“Observe life at its best, listen to life’s songs, embrace life’s bounties, breathe the breath of life and savor life to its fullest.”

Catnipoflife is about the school of life…the life we live and the lives lived around us…times of hard knocks and times of joy…life is good stuff and full of blessings to be thankful for each day. Sharla shares the lives we lead through her gift of poetry and photography.

As she shares her poetic words on her blogs and in her books, she encourages other bloggers by sharing their photos with her poetry on her blogs.

I was thrilled when I heard from her last month in regards to using my photos of wheat harvest with her poetic words on both of her blogs on Nov. 20th called “Amber Waves Of Grain.

Farmers utilize a team of 14 draft animals to harvest wheat.

She honors the American Farmers and our beloved United States of America, with her poetic words full of history and heritage. Read both her posts called Amber Waves Of Grain…click links below:)

Take a look and enjoy…

As we hop over to Sharla’s second blog  Awakenings”

She opens her blog with the profound sentence below…

“Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment its said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.”

I love Sharla’s opening words as it echos the life we live in our 100 year old family home on our ranch here in Juniper. Lots of memories and family history that is full of true grit and determination. I am who I am today because of my parents and my grandparents, who I never knew face to face…but I knew them through my parents and their love and respect for the generations that went before them…it gave me a deep faith of God…believing that no matter what we will never give up…we gotta keep on a going.

Everyday that we live, and every word we speak becomes our history…the days of our lives become our heritage…our story and traditions…and why we are here is a piece of the puzzle of our life, our history and our heritage.

Marcy and Prince 19573

Drum roll please…

Blog of The Year 2013 Award

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars! You can either ‘swap’ your badge for the next one each time you are given the award – or even proudly display all six badges if you are lucky enough to be presented with the award six times!

Each of you carries your own special talents and words of wisdom. Thank you for your inspiration, which always seems to arrive when needed. And do not pay any attention to the order the names are presented, God bless you all!

Blog of the Year Award 1 star jpeg

Congratulations, and here is your first star (may be your second, could even be your third) but it is the first from me!

Hot Rod Cowgirl Ropes In An Award!

Hot Rod Cowgirl ropes in an award!

I am always so very humbled when fellow bloggers and readers, photographers and writers, present HRCG with an award. When I began doing my blog I had no idea that we would be given awards by our peers…the best part is that I also get to pass them on to other well deserving bloggers too!

The Wonderful Team Member Readership Award Was Given To Me By

Go check out Ginny’s wonderful life-giving blog…she writes with honesty and her true self as she seeks to encourage any who read her blog about life and memories. She loves to laugh and shares her life through her words and the different pieces of her life…and she hopes we will share our life pieces too:)

Telling our story, our history and life, can bring us a sense of peace down deep in our souls. Being a born writer at heart most of my life, I know the power of writing out our thoughts, our worries, and our memories. Writing our thoughts and worries down truly helps to empty out our concerns and emotions. There is something cleansing when we write our words and thoughts down on paper when we are struggling. Interestingly enough, when we do that, the struggle becomes less of a struggle and we find peace in our hearts instead of obsessively worrying. Writing out our worries helps make them less controlling of our thoughts. I know for me, once I get my worries  out on paper, I can get on with life and not dwell on them so much. I am more at peace with whatever it is that I am worrying about, and somehow the answer to solve the worry comes to me…now if I kept on fretting, I don’t think the answer would be clear to me. Writing is good and it is healing:)

To accept this award, I have to follow some rules and,

Here are the rules for this award:

1.The Nominee of the Wonderful Team member Readership Award shall display the logo on his/her blog.

2.The Nominee shall nominate 14 readers they appreciate over a period of 7 days, all at once or little by little.

Minnie is licking her lips in time for a treat!

3. The Nominee shall name his/her Wonderful Team Member Readership Award nominees on a post or on posts during 7 days.

Here are my nominees for

The Wonderful Team Member Readership Award!

Annie was watching the sunset with me a few nights ago. We have been getting some of the smoke from Central Oregon’s fires and the sunsets, sunrises and last night even the moon have been spectacular.

Thank you again Ginny for this awesome award, I truly appreciate it:):):)

Be sure to check out Ginny’s blog Chasing The Perfect Moment, she has a wonderful way with words and sharing her heart, leaving you with something to ponder on and apply to your own life.

Here is the link to Ginny’s blog

Our on fire sunset last night…you can see the smoke cloud over us. I am hoping and praying the fires will be out soon and no loss of life.

Be sure to head over to Ginny’s blog at

I end this post today with remembering Jack…our barn kitty who was more than a cat, he was Jack The Attack Cat…and very much loved!

God Bless You Jack The Cat….we will miss you and forever hold you in our hearts. You were our Mighty Hunter and Mighty Warrior…now you can run through the fields of heaven and play with all kinds of God’s glorious gifts.

I know God is holding you tight, loving on you right now rubbing all your special places…we love you very much Jack and I know we will see you again our Kitty Angel.

May you all have a Terrific Tuesday Evening wherever you are:) HRCG over and out for now but not for long:)

“Blog Of The Year 2012” Award Times Six!

“Blog Of The Year 2012” Award Times Six Stars! What a wonderful award gift to be given:) I am very late in posting the news of this award as I received the award between my hubby’s two surgeries with December 26th being the second surgery and then we lost our beloved dog Kiah…who we miss very much.

I was both the head nurse and doctor at times…when you live 60 miles from the hospital and the Dr., you learn to do both…my friends laugh at our “Hallway Closet” as it is the equivalent of “Rite Aid,”with all kinds of tape, gauze, antibiotic creams, itch creams, bug sprays, thermometers and band-aids. Between taking care of WB and making sure he did exactly as he was instructed to do and did not sneak out of the house to go to the shop, life has been busy…thankfully his doctor gave him the heads up to venture out a few weeks ago, but the first few months I had to watch him like a hawk!!!  I run the office so I am forever busy keeping up with both the ranch books and our custom car business, and I can’t believe how fast the months go!

We hired three new employees to add to our team, one great apprentice and two gifted, talented and experienced technicians that know how to do the job right. Luckily our winter weather has not been terrible this year so with the help of our new apprentice, I took care of the horses, making sure their water, which is heated during the winter months, was working and heating right. I felt like I was the lady of many hats, as I wore many different hats from Head Nurse to the Mrs. Grrrrr Boss to the Cowgirl Queen of All…hee-haw!

And then I had the nicest surprise in receiving the nomination for the “Blog Of The Year 2012” Award with the first of six stars from fellow blogger Candy at I was both humbled and in a state of shock in a very happy way:)

Blog of the Year Award 1 star jpeg

Thank you Candy for thinking of me:) Be sure to check out Candy’s blog as I promise you will enjoy it! She has a blog full of positive encouragement, which helps as we go through some of those truly yucky-blah days of our lives…and she also shares lots of wisdom to apply to our lives too. Here is the link to Candy’s blog and also the link that has all the rules for this award

Blog of the Year Award 2 star thumbnail

And then I received my second star and another nomination for the “Blog Of The Year 2012” Award from my friend Marilyn at

I was now laying on the ground, having fainted with delight, while my horse Melody was staring at me with her big beautiful eyes wondering if I was ok…you can see she is worried, she is the sweetest horse I have ever had. “Ahhh Mel, I love you lots, but I’m ok:)” I was smiling and glowing with excitement as I felt so very honored to receive this award by both these admirable friends and fellow bloggers…go check out Marilyn’s blog at

Blog of the Year Award 3 star thumbnail

Because it was the holidays and the season was full of holly jolly joy joy! My laptop was singing away with sonar ba-blurps, as my notifications sound like a submarine when they come in…so I checked to see who was ba-blurping me and it was Marilyn at she had awarded me with my third star, to add to my nomination for the “Blog Of The Year 2012” Award!!! If you have not gotten over to Marilyn’s blog by now…get going! She has a worthy blog called “Serendipity” that is filled with words written by Marilyn, who is a gifted writer.

The picture above is Annie, she is so pretty…and the photo below with the white stuff hanging off the garden stake with the horse on top next to the fake flowers is called “Hoar Frost.” It builds and grows each day until it hangs off of railings, power lines and etc. When we have long periods of freezing temperatures with freezing fog, a heavy hoar frost will grow on everything. Often we lose power as the power lines sag with the weight of the heavy frost eventually breaking the lines, leaving us without power for several hours or days. When you have livestock, they need water to survive. Horses can colic, which means they get a tummy ache and they lay down and roll on the ground trying to get rid of the pain, and often twist their gut. In severe cases they can die or will need surgery…the colic is caused by eating dry feed without water for their gut. so when you lose power and are without water for your livestock, you haul it or bucket it from another water source.

With Christmas upon us and snow forecast with freezing fog delight, my kitty Minnie was doing her computer time a few days later and said,

“Meowzers Mom…I just heard your laptop make that funny email noise again…I peeked and now you have four stars, as Marilyn gave me, (Minnie), a star for Christmas cuz I’m the cat who knows where it’s at! Meowohooey! Thank you Ms. Marilyn:)”

Blog of the Year Award 4 star thumbnail

I did a fancy cowgirl two-step with a yee-haw and

Minnie looked at me and left in a hurry….she was worried it somehow could involve me picking her up for a kitty hug and holding her close to my heart for a kitty dance. She does not like to be held off the ground at all…and since I am 5’9″ tall, I’m a skyscraper in her eyes!

The Rules For This Award Are Simple And Easy:

1. Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award.

2. Write a blog post and name/tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

6. As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting the six stars.

And Wowee-Wowzers!!!

Blog of the Year Award 5 star thumbnail

And I just got my fifth star!!!

The best part of receiving this special award was being nominated by my peers for the equivalent of the Oscar Award with the “Blog Of The Year 2012” Award. It feels very good to have recognition from your friends that are on this artistic journey with you. When I began this blog I had no idea that it would feed my heart and soul the way it does. I have always always always loved to write…and photography has been a passion that I knew was there in my heart but in raising our kids, money was tight and buying fancy cameras was not in my budget…basketball shoes alone cost as much as a college education. I did write and I have journal upon journals of my life over the years, filled with emotions, memories and daily life.

And then only a day before Christmas I found I had received my sixth star from Marilyn as she too wanted to pass on the holly jolly joy and share her stars with me for the “Blog Of The Year 2012″Award! Thank you Marilyn and Big Hugs:)

Blog of the Year Award 6 star thumbnail

Thank you Candy at for the first nomination for this awesome award and thank you Marilyn at  for blessing me with this awesome award with several nominations…neither of you had any way of knowing that, on the days you blessed me with another star to this award, it was a day that I had a fire of life dilemma to put out here…so each of your stars gave me hope and a big smile! Thank you both for being my friends and fellow writers on this journey of words and of life:)

Drum roll please for my nominations…I would like to nominate all of the bloggers and writers I know…I enjoy every blog on Word Press:) It is not easy to choose only a few blogs as I have many that I believe are worthy and that is all of them!

Vivian has a wonderful blog and I so enjoy the pictures she takes of the Nevada Desert…I love the peace and solitude of the desert and have found that the desert has a way of drawing you into its magical light, colors and silence…there is something incredibly beautiful and spiritual about the desert and Nevada has LOTS of mountains too so don’t let the desert fool you. Vivian’s blog is full of inspiration and incredible scenery.

13.  This is Pam (Mommy) and Sam’s (Sammy) blog on Sammy’s fun antics and Pam’s wonderful words, she has a wonderful writing ability, she has published a few books and also short stories and she also is an artist as she paints. I always enjoy seeing what Pam is up to and Minnie has a kitty girl crush on Sammy…and I love to see what Sammy is up to as he has gone undercover before as a secret agent and he has taken care of business:) He is one cool dude!

14.    I truly enjoy Sharla’s blog, her writing style, the memories she shares, the books she has published, and I love the name of the blog Catnip Of Life…yeah, that is perfect and Minnie agrees:) Sharla gives you deep things to ponder and think deep on which I love as it keeps me thinking all day when I am out and about doing ranch stuff:) I love her poetry too, her positive comments and her laughs as I love to laugh:)

Minnie and I have learned so much from all the many bloggers we have met in the last almost two years. The best part has been getting to know you…and to view your artistic abilities from photography to writing words that tell the stories of your life or of the lives you write about. The creative spirit is amazing and ever changing, growing and developing…I love the burning fire of artistic abilities that are God given, that burn deep in my heart. It is always there…sometimes it just smolders and other times it fires up into a roaring campfire…I love it:)

Blog On Fire Award

I was nominated for “The Blog On Fire” award from….I am humbled and honored that my blog is worthy of this award:)

I am to nominate 8 bloggers and include 8 unusual thing about myself…hmmm…???

So here we go with the 8 things about me that you do not know.

1. Because I grew up here in a very isolated area I get extremely nervous when I have to travel to large towns such as Portland, Oregon….sweaty palms and severe twitching along with nervous break downs in the traffic and finding directions when I get lost…traffic and big cities…huge ugh!

2. My Dad was President of the Pendleton Round Up when I was 10 years old. I grew up with the Pendleton Round-Up Rodeo. Dad was inducted into the Round Up Hall Of Fame in 1990….he was called “The Cowboy President”.

3. My Maternal Grandfather was an Oregon State Representative in the Oregon Legislator .

4. I believe “Ya gotta keep a going…no matter what…in all circumstances of life.”

5. I was stepped on by my Dad’s horses when I was 2 years old. The babysitter left me at our barn so I climbed into the corral with about 8 horses as I wanted to pet them etc. When Dad heard I was alone with the horses he rushed to the corral and found me lying face down…he picked me up and slapped my back…I spit out horse manure and was able to breathe again. I had a broken shoulder and a hoof print on my chest…my shoulder healed up fine but every once in a while it throws fits. One would think I would not want anything to do with horses after this incident but I did and do. They are part of me…I love my horses:) The physical hoof print mark on my chest that day went away but I still have hoof prints on my heart.

6. I played the flute in high school and also the piano by ear.

7. I love summer nights here…the sound of our nightly crickets in the small creek…the smell of wheat drying out for harvest…beautiful sunsets and sunrises…ahhh:)

8. I love Black Angus cows as that is what my Dad raised…we had 800 mama cows…and 100 plus bulls…and every summer was an adventure:) I miss those incredible days of a cowgirls life:)

Okay here are my eight nominations:

I hope this award blesses all of the above bloggers…we are a community…and it is good stuff…thank you all for being my friend and also for the amazing work you all do:) Thank you again to

I Was Awarded The Illuminating Blogger Award

I have been blessed with a new award from Food Stories at

I was awarded the Illuminating Blogger Award!

Food Stories is pleased to present the Illuminating Blogger Award, a fabulous award that anyone can bestow on their fellow bloggers for illuminating, informative blog content. I was surprised and humbled that my blog was chosen for this awesome award.

Thank you so much Food Stories, CJ:)

I am to share one random interesting thing about myself…hmmmm…I am 5’9″ tall…and was always in the taller group at school growing up…now I am in the normal group as we all have kids that are taller in this day and age.

Now I get to pass on the award to five other super talented illuminating bloggers that I enjoy reading…this is the fun part!

1. Ann Novek  @  She has such an informative and illuminating blog. I have learned many things about life and animals from all over that Ann posts, which educate and inform me about the awful cruelty abuse of animals. She also writes about her life and the awesome birds she sees as well as about Stockholm. And her photography is awesome!

2. Sam and Pam @ Sam is a very talented kitty who keeps me smiling with his daily life and his thoughts about life. Pam is his Mom and she runs the blog for Sam and also keeps him happy with lots of kitty loves and hugs. Sam has become friends with my kitty girl Minnie and Minnie thinks he is very smart and uh well cute too:)

3.  I love the photography of  Tuxedo Sophisticated Cat…she is doing a year long project of shooting a picture per day. She also has a website of her photography when she travels. I always look forward to what she posts and shares with us.

4. Lissa @ She blogs about life and shares her thoughts on various topics with deep meaning. I love reading her perspectives as it broadens my thinking too:)

She spends her days training trail horses, observing her natural surroundings and appreciating how those two loves come together in her life. While she rides, she contemplates the people in her life and her relationship with the Creator. She writes about her travels and steps taken toward the goals she has set for herself. Go check her illuminating blog out!

5. Jeffrey @ is a new blog I just discovered and already enjoy seeing the various photos of nature that he takes.

It is always hard for me to just pick a few when there are so many bloggers and blogs that are all wonderful. I feel very blessed to be part of the blogging world as I have met some amazing incredible people:) Thank you again Food Stories @  and also to all my subscribers and supporters!
