🙂 I am happy that you enjoyed this….and that you felt you were there. The Pendleton Round Up is an amazing rodeo and all the activities that go with it make the entire week memorable. Happy Canyon the night show is worth seeing too:) I love that photo too as to me it says God Bless America and Ride Hard Like America Cowboys!!!! It brought a lump to my throat when I was watching him and loved seeing it:)

🙂 I was sure he was John Wayne’s brother….he never thought of himself as that or that he did much in life….but yeah…he left me with the lasting legacy of never giving up…and he did so much good in his life. He would love to hear you say this about him…he of course would be embarrassed and then just laugh:)

🙂 It is a fun experience and the rodeo is good…I love seeing all the people and of course I love walking around behind the scenes seeing the horses and watching both cowboys and cowgirls warming up:) The Friday morning parade, the Westward ho Parade, it stunning as there are no motor vehicles at all….it is all horseback or wagons that have been restored….it lasts about 2-3 hours…very worth it!

I debated for months and all of this year actually…researched and read and thought…the Sony a77 won out…I wondered about the new Cannon Mark or the Nikons but Sony had some features that I truly loved and felt good about so I went that way for now anyway:)

Yeah….I did not know that Sony was so cutting edge and that they produce a kot of the Nikon and Cannon parts…and what I love is that they are very user friendly…kind of like my Mac computers…easy to adapt to. So for now we will see and hope that I made the right choice….they have higher end ones yet above this one to grow with:)

Thank you much….I spent over a year trying to decide if I should buy a Cannon or a Nikon or….and then I went to a camera shop in Portland a few years ago and they said Sony…I said what? I have Sony TV’s but cameras….really…then I saw the a55 and it was so very user friendly and I loved the quality of my pictures with it…even so it was back and forth for me another year trying to decide do I go with the Cannon 7D or the Nikon one that cost big bucks…I love taking life pictures that tell the story. I am a writer at heart but capturing that moment on film to me is thrilling…I love photography and right now I am on a learning curve. Anyway…after debating and looking and etc. I went back to Portland and to the camera shop…the salesman there that day owned the Sony a77 and he said it was the best camera he had ever had…he carried it everywhere…and had submitted a film to Sundance this year and it was accepted…he shot the entire film with the Sony…the other clerks that worked there, once was a Cannon person and the other was a Nikon person and they said you know….the Sony a77 is amazing and will last you for years…so my hubby bought it and now I am having fun once again in learning so many new techniques and terms too…I love it so far. I love capturing the photos that tell the story without words:) Thank you for stopping in:)

You’re never too old to learn. I have a dear friend who is 80. I sold her her first laptop computer and just helped her pick out the iPad III. What a hoot! I also suggested her first digital camera. So now, she is taking pictures, transferring them to help netpad & iPad and mailing me custom postcards. You can do this. From what I’ve seen of your photos you’re well on your way. 🙂

A few years back I had had it with my Dell and windows computers…I liked the sound of Macs and knew I could switch us over. Of course I had some say oh no you will not make the switch very well….HA! Thank you so much:) Yes I had to try out the new camera…I am still on a learning curve with it but so far I love it:) Thank you for the Birthday Wishes too:) Someday it would be great for you to attend a big rodeo like Pendleton…there is so much to see and do…lots of clowns hang out for humor in between events etc. and the Native Americans come into the arena every day for about a half of hour of dance….it is fun to see and watch…they actually move into the teepees for the week….then we also have Happy Canyon which is a nightly pageant about the early settlers and the Native Americans…the history of the west. It goes about 2 hours and all the acting is done by local volunteers. Round Up and Happy Canyon are a full 10 days of fun!
Sam I will let Minnie know that you are a bit smitten with her gorgeous looks…I think she is very pretty too:)

Amen. Continuing to pray for snow or rain (or both) to help put those fires out. My mom and dad say it’s the worst they’ve seen it (the smoke) in many, many years.

Yes it has been terrible with the smoke….one fire that is burning is down close to the town of Sisters, Oregon and another one is burning around Wenatchee, Washington in the mountains and looks like it will merge with another large fire….evacuations are all over of towns and homes…..it is sad and does not sound good.
Have you been to the R-Up ever? It is exciting and the daily run in by the Queen and Court is amazing…makes you feel proud and it is exciting:) I know we both like those QH Butts:)

I went once when Todd was with the hitch. I had only heard about it as a kid. As you can imagine Calgary was our “local” big rodeo and we’d always do the Draft horse show up there. I was fortunate enough to hit Cheyenne a few times and Denver about every year too – they all rock. Such a proud American thing…as a kid I always kinda took it for granted. Not no more! Again, wonderful post!

Yeah me too in taking it for granted…thought everyone did this….and like you…no more as I truly appreciate the rodeo. I have never been to Calgary or Cheyenne…Dad went when he was on the board of directors of the Round Up…and brought home stories of what it was like…so on the so called bucket list, I would love to attend both once and I want to go to the NFR…mainly Cowboy Christmas:) You are right in that these big rodeos are truly an American thing…we are way blessed….and I hope that it continues:) Thank you for your support…love the Draft horses and hearing about your life with them:) Happy Sunday!
