Happy to find your blog through Fourth Generation Farmgirl. Your tag line quote about courage is one of my absolute favorites. I did a blog post on it, have it up on my fridge and my coffee cup is inscribed with it! Look forward to going back through your blog.

So do you:) I think we both share the honor and heritage of living on farms that have been in our families for well over a hundred years…there is something profoundly deep in your heart when you walk where your ancestors walked. Growing up in the house that my Grandfather built for my Great Grandmother spoke deeply to me…my Grandfather passed away before I was born so the house and the soil in the fields mean a lot to me:)

I understand exactly what you’re saying. That feeling in your heart of walking where your ancestors have walked–priceless. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 🙂 x

LOL you are right HRCG!! Nanna was always ones tep ahead of me. How she managed with a hyperactive child (me); an ailing husband (20 yrs her senior) & a bouncing Chihuahua named Chiquas is beyond me. Nanna had Rheumatodi Arthritis but I did not KNOW this until I was a teenager! I remember apologizing to her for being such a wild child & she just hugged me & said “I will always love you my Sher-a-la…” G-D I miss her 😉

I wish I had known my grandparents but two of them were already gone when I came along and I lost the other two when I was 3 to 5 years old. Your Nana knew what she was doing and kpet one up on yo:) Hugs…sending you lots and hoping all the good memories keep coming back to you:)

Thank you much:) Its good to meet another farmgirl! We live in the house I grew up in….it was built for my Great Grandmother from Norway in 1920. My Dad was 10 years old and remembers hauling the lumber from the little farm town 8 miles from here with his Dad. My family has farmed this ground for over 100 years and there is something incredible special about that dirt…my Dad’s brothers farmed the wheat ground here and my Dad ran the cattle that they had….over 800 head. Each summer we moved to the mountains to take care of them. I enjoyed reading your blog and seeing life through your eyes…its awesome that you came back to the farm…makes it very special:) The area you live in looks pretty and I love that you restored the house….we have been working on this house the last 15 years and it is about done now too. My favorite song in relation to where we live is Guardian Angles by The Judds…it speaks right to the heart…wishing you a peaceful night and hoping for sunshine tomorrow for you…sending hugs:)

It is great to meet you and I love the country around you….beautiful. Yes I think we are very blessed to live in our families century homes…my grandfather passed away before I was born but growing up in a home he built for his Norwegian mother, (he had 7 kids then) bringing her over and giving her this house spoke volumes to me about family, respect, working hard and honoring your parents. I love family history. Looking forward to your posts too….happy spring:)

Siddhartha Henry is a clown in fur I can tell you HRCG!! He is also a VERY bossy boy….seriously MORE bossy than Nylablue & she was the Queen of ‘bossy’……
LOL about tadpoles/frogs. I used to bring garter snakes & salamanders home to my Grandparents when I was raised here as a child. Neither of them ever freaked out. They admired my new ‘friend’ & I could it for a few hours & then my nanna would say,” You know Sherri-Ellen that salamander/snake probably has Grandparents & parents & probably siblings…maybe they are out looking for their ‘lost’ family member…” Well I would become concerned & of course take the creature back to the place where I caught it. Wasn’t my Nanna VERY clever? 😉
LOL she was prety smooth!

When I was a little girl HRCG I used to catch crickets & keep them overnite in a HUGE pickle jar with grass & dandelions & even a tiny water dish. My Mother used to complain about their chirping so I’d take the jar downstairs & sleep there or else sneak the jar back up to my bedroom, hahaha!!
Funny thing, when I would let the crickets go; they would hop right back into the pickle jar 😉
Siddhartha Henry was originally named TIGS but I did not like such a plain name (& he did not answer to it either, lol…)
He is my Panther boy RRAAWWRRR..

Too funny about Siddhartha….the roaring Pantherrrrr! I get such a kick out of him, he is so cute:) We always had lots of tadpoles too and each year I would take one of Mom’s jars to the creek to catch them and sometimes she would let me keep them for a bit and then I set them free again. One day I found out tadpoles were baby frogs!!! Oh grossss….so that ended that! I love your story of the crickets…LOL about your Mom saying they are too noisy Sherri-Ellen…as you were sneaking them to your room anyway:) We are like hearted for sure:)

Hi there:) We do the same thing in the fall here too….everything gets so dry and looks burned up…and I love when the fall rains come…this year we are already dry in places due to the lack of rain and snow over the winter…we were record dry going into winter last December so it is not good to be this dry now. Things are greening up in places but I have heard that some areas are now considered to be a drought area. I hope you get those lovely rains soon….sending huggies and happy thoughts:)
