Moments Of Sometimes…

Moments of sometimes…moments of life slipping by…moments where time stands still…moments of life…(written almost four weeks ago)

The last few days my mother in law has been fighting for her life…

DSC07069

We wait and hope….pray and know that God is watching over her.

We don’t know what tomorrow may bring…but we know that today, life is precious and Mom’s life means the world to our family…

cci12112016

Mom Holton not only became my mom in-law, she became my friend. She taught me how to make spaghetti sauce and how to cook calf fries! She was a special lady with a heart of gold…she was a walking life-book to me and I loved that!

cci28102016_2

We celebrated our 25th anniversary in Hawaii with my sister in law’s family and my in-laws. The last time Dad Holton was in Hawaii was a few days after Pearl Harbor was attacked.

cci12112016_7

We made special memories with Dad (he is on the right) on that trip, seeing Pearl Harbor through his eyes was bittersweet, as we listened to his recollections of what he saw and what he experienced…

DSC01361

Mom joined Dad Holton in heaven October 23, 2016 with a big celebration to welcome her home. God gave me an image of Dad reaching for Mom’s hand as she stepped into heaven and they began to dance to 40’s music! They loved to dance and I was told they knew how to cut a rug!

I have learned that time is fleeting…life is in the moment and if you miss that moment…I am sorry for you.

SONY DSC

Time is much shorter than any of us realize whether you are young or old.

SONY DSC

Death knows no age limits…life is precious as every second of time and every memory is eternal…don’t miss it!

    Such a lovely tribute.
Hope the season brings you smiles.
Just running by to wrap up the holidays…
Waiting for sunset on Christmas Eve is like standing toes-over-the-edge on a high diving board.
Every year we’d cruise casually by the window to keep an eye on the sun’s progress until it was officially evening.
Then the shout “Christmas Eve Gift!” would ring out.
You see, the traditions says that the first person to voice that phrase on Christmas Eve to another would be graced with good fortune and joy all the next year.
(And of course, whomever was first won. Everything was a contest…)
It’s more difficult to be first now with caller ID.
As all those who have become my friends in blogland are spread widely across time zones, I’d like to wish you all “Christmas Eve Gift” now.
And as I already feel so fortunate to have such wonderful readers and writers in this neighborhood, I wish to share any phrase acquired good fortune and joy with you in thanks.
No matter where you are or what you are guided by, hope you have a very merry Christmas and a new year full of adventure and joy.
Peace on earth and goodwill towards all creatures great and small.

It’s been a long time since my mom passed away, somewhere around 1991. She was over 40 when I was born and still had my younger brother 19 months later. I can still see her face on my mind. I hope to see her again in heaven someday.

Great snaps; your country is the same as mine, but so different . (when I say country, I don’t mean the whole USA, I mean your ranch/farm) We live in the bush and look after ourselves. We make everything, do everything and think for ourselves. It blows me out when I read a blog like yours… Australians and Americans are so similar… maybe its the big sky and an empty land. Some of your words… the way you see things. Thanks. It takes a long time to find out who you are… took me a lifetime of 70 odd years.
Its the ‘golden light’ and a windy wet day, an old mate and a loyal dog, building things and writing… and all things art. The mystery of life, I love it.
Strange things happen where I live…I live on an old ‘Story Hill’. A place Man has revered since before the sphinx , way before JC and Stonehenge.
This land is old, like the people and their spiritual places.
Words and stories come to me so easily, they come from the land… silence speaks. I would say you are one of those lucky people who listens to your country.
    Onya… (oz’e slang for ‘good on you’…

Have a look at my place, my country.

Glad you stopped by my blog…thank you much!Seeing wide open spaces and places, without sign of civilization…its just you in the elements and solitude moments…it draws me in as I love the quiet, the silence and the incredible scenery that forever changes all year long!I know what you mean about stories coming easily as I have written stories since I was in 2nd grade, it helped with the aloneness as a kid as I was an only child…and it helped me to understand myself! All good stuff! I love the ruggedness of the land and the skies above…the ever changing light for photos and life is good:)

You should have a look at my country, well, the pick’s I’ve took. I’m taking and posting a photo a day… until Summer Solstice: 21 Dec.
Hot and humid right now, thunder storm brewing…

It is so sad when we lose a loved one,but they are never really gone. They are always there in the background ready to surface when something funny or sad happens to make you think of them or at christmas when you put the family decorations up or cook the turkey at thanksgiving ,their voice commenting on what you see in your mind that brings a smile to you face every time.such a beautiful tribute to a lady who meant much to you and your family, much love to you all,xx Rachel and Speedy

So sorry for your family’s loss……we never QUITE get over those losses and somehow as we get older they tend to just remind us even more than ever that our time here is fleeting and we must enjoy every moment. Neither me nor my husband have parents who are still with us and we lost them all a long while ago but the emptiness stays. I hope as the days pass you and your husband can focus on the wonderful memories – in fact, I’m SURE you will!

    Hugs, Pam

Hi there! Yes, Mom H. was our last living parent, she was almost 89 and remarkable as she kept on going with a heart of happiness…that generation of our parents seemed to have that ability to keep on a going no matter what.

She remained quick with her wit and also she was blessed with a clear mind up to the end. It came about sudden and before we could grasp all that was happening, she slipped away…and I know she would have preferred that way rather than to linger. All her grandkids and great-grands were able to see her as well as her son, my WB, and his sister…it was a blessing that they were able to spend lots of time with her almost 24/7.

You are right that the emptiness stays, it has been 19 years since I lost my Dad and 18 years since I lost Mom…while time heals your heart with the good memories, we still do miss them so much, and this time of year is hard. It amazes me that so much time has passed and that we are now older…not sure how that happened but glad we are still here:) Sending you heartfelt hugs and lost of kitty loves for Sam too:)
      Love,Marcy

Condolences on your loss. I’m not sure we ever quite recover from them.

Your world is still beautiful and I’m glad you are still enjoying life. The closest I’m going to get to Hawaii I fear is my Ukulele. I will play it and pretend 🙂

Thank you much Marilyn…I do agree as their lives were special and our memories keep that connection alive. I miss my folks often, just wish sometimes I could still go for coffee next door when I am dealing with something or maybe it is just that I need a good laugh:) Our weather again has been so strange…so far flowers are blooming and we are getting rain and more rain with those mild temps…today felt like late April out. I do hope that you get to go to Hawaii! We have only gone one time and when we came home we wanted to move there as it was so beautiful…but then common sense paid us a visit and said something about island fever after a while and I thought yeah…that would bug you…but a few months a year would be grand:)

Thank you Sherri-Ellen and SD Henry:) Mom H. was part of that Greatest Generation that Tom Brokaw wrote books on and I know you know as your dad was from that generation too. It is hard to loose them even if you see it coming…you hold on hoping for a turn around in their health. I know she is at peace and so very happy to be with Dad H. again…she waited for 15 years and missed him dearly. This is a tough time of year…we have lost all four of our parents between September and December…and Minnie too. My heart is with you gf as I know you are going through a tough time…I am praying and sending hugs with kitty boy loves too!

Dear HRCG: WOW losing all 4 parents in the same year is very very sad! And losing ‘that’ generation makes it doubly sad!!! We have to believe all our safe & out of pain & living in glory with G-D in Heaven/Summerland/Pure Land.
        And our dear cats: Minnie & Nylablue…. ❤ ❤
I am still missing Nylablue altho' I ADORE P SH!!
Every 4 legged bring something different into our lives.,,
You with Ellie Belle & me with Siddhartha Henry.
Thank you for the kind words also. I am taking things One Day at a Time; not pressuring myself & in effect, isolating from other tenants. My neighbor is awesome & so kind. I told the other woman I am friends with what I am going thru'; of course she played the 'P*ssing Game' telling me she was worse off…..so I gently told her this is why I am not spending time with her or others here.
I am not sure if she 'goth the message'…..
Thankfully I DO have some good friends locally & so many online to buoy me up.
Sending you lots of Love & prayers ❤ ❤

Ken and Paula, thank you much for your heartfelt words and your friendship. We were blessed to call her Mom…she was part of the greatest generation that got things done. We were blessed to grow up calling them mom and dad…they gave us all so much in teaching us about life and being tough with a good work ethic and good morals. I still hear those teachings and try hard to live by the standards we were taught. Mom H. was our last parent…no matter if you know it is coming, you are never prepared…we remained the kids as they remained mom and dad no matter our ages. Sending hugs your way…we miss you! Love, your country neighbors and forever friends, WB and Marcy

Thank you much…it is always so hard to write the words, and sharing your loss..I suppose it is another part of grief in coming to terms with the loss. Mom H. was an incredible woman, part of that generation that grew up during tough times and living through world wars…they really were part of a special generation and I do thank God for them…we were blessed to call them parents…mom and dad.

Thank you for your meaningful words during a tough time in our life. We are never prepared to loose our parents and our loved ones…Mom H. was our last living parent, again no matter how old we get, we are still the kid and they are mom and dad. I yet remember my 80 year old mom staying up late to be sure that I made it home when I was 45 years old…she told me that she needed to see my car lights pull into the driveway before she could rest.
Hugs, Marcy or MJ or HRCG, I answer to all three…
