The Last Breath

Of a warm summers night in Juniper Canyon…oh how I love this time of year here!

DSC03659

Its heaven on earth to this cowgirl…the sounds of various birds and critters…in the distance I can hear neighbors yet harvesting…and the magical light is soooo pretty!

DSC07366

I’m outside every summer evening and then some to not miss anything! WB likes to watch TV so he does that to relax but for me it’s being outside as much as I can! I love it!

DSC07132

We just got home from a trip to Portland, 550 miles round trip, whew!

DSCN0978

As soon as we got home I took off the city clothes and put on the country girl clothes that I will forever be me in…

DSC09251

I do love getting dressed up for special times and things but its hard to take the country cowgirl out of me for very long before I need my jeans or crops this time of year, a simple tee-shirt and of course one of my various cowgirl belts…and I’m home:)

DSC07079

Once I made the change it was Ellie’s turn to play, she usually goes with us but today was going to be a long drive for her as in boring…

DSC04820

I watered my many flowers and also watered my water dog…Ellie loves loves loves water! So we be playing…she is such a good good girl:)

DSC08917

And for reasons unknown Pat the Cat, (he’s the orange one), one of our “Lion” barn cats likes to hang out with Ellie, so he comes up from the barn to visit and he also brought his companion, our other Ellie, named Ellie as she was found in an elevator as a kitten someone abandoned, am so glad that she is ok and doing well! We have Ellie the Cat and Ellie the Dog:)

DSC08376

Sun has set and its getting dark…Stone Coyotes singing on my iPod…love them! I have many fav’s from Outlaw Country on XM radio…love that station!

DSC08766

Same ol’ blah blah me here tonight…I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer evening…an having a perfecto memorable summer too! God night all:)

Ahhhh thank you much:) Pat the cat is now almost 13 years old….he and his very cool brother came to live with us when he was about 9 months old…sadly we lost his bob tailed brother Jack tw0 years ago from diabetes….it was hard on all of us to loose him but more so to Pat. When my friend moved away that next spring, she offered the other Ellie and Pat was thrilled:) They are quite to companions!

I am so sorry about Jack>>>Diabetes in a cat is pretty lethal. (Learned that from Nylablue.)
Pat the Cat is 13?? I would never have guessed that! He looks wonderful. Ah so that is how you got Ellie cat…what a lovely story HRCG……

It was very sad as he was so active…thats why we knew something was wrong as he was more lethargic and not himself. We knew something was wrong…taking him to the vet we thought he would come home ok and he crossed the rainbow bridge…we brought him home to bury him and it was very hard…hard for Pat the cat too as there were with each other forever…full brothers from the same litter of kittens. I was glad that kitty Ellie came to live with us as Pat now has company.

I do so love reading your blog! It reminds me of home, my Portland home that is. I lived there 10 years and loved every minute of it. I miss the rain. Never thought I’d say that but you develop a special lifestyle when it rains as many days as it does in Portland. Notice I’m not saying Oregon because there are so very many micro-climates in Oregon.

Now that I’m living in New England I’m experiencing the different weather patterns here for the first time. I sure don’t care much for the hot, dry and humid time we’re experiencing right now. Fortunately I’ve got air conditioning in my tiny apartment but that has me hibernating for months at a time. And then there’s Winter…..

Thank you much for your kind words and support with my blog:) I know you have to be homesick after living in the NW for 10 years! I understand about rain and clouds as when we lived in Wyoming, storms would move quickly into our area and then move right out….so every day was bright sunshine, year round! No clouds or overcast day or fog or weather like here. I missed the cloudy days and the rains…we are not like Portland here, you had lots more rain than we do here but we do have clouds and cloudy days and occasion nice rains…we also did not have all of our birds in Wyoming.

I am sure life for you this first year in New England will not be boring as you will have all new experiences with weather and life. I would not like the humidity…am glad that you have air and I would imagine your winters there are much harder than we have here. We used to get lots more snow where I live when I grew up but now we are lucky to get a few inches….it seems our weather is changing everywhere?

      Wishing you a nice weekend:)

I moved here October 3rd, 2015. From what the locals told me it was a sad representation of their regular Autumn, with little color compared to normal. Then Winter came and the locals definitely mention the mild Winter we had compared to the record setting Winter of 2014-2015, with 110 inches of snow. This Summer we’re in a terrible drought with occasional thunderstorms supplying just enough water to survive. We’re nearly 8 inches behind what we usually have.

Being new I’m going by what locals and the weather people are telling me about what’s normal. I certainly don’t care for the occasional bouts of high humidity but now my new tiny 6500 btu window air conditioner is taking care of that. Prior to get that unit I’d wake up each morning in a pool of sweat, not fun!

So now we’re right around the corner from the end of Summer and the beginning of Fall. It’s all new to me so I’m enjoying experiencing my first complete year here which will arrive October 3rd.

I’ve lived all over the United States, experienced all types of seasonal extremes. By far my favorite was Portland, OR, with its light rain without heavy thunderstorms, hurricanes and snowfall. There was relatively little humidity in Portland. The trees took care of cleaning the air of it.

I’m adapting, slowly. I’m grateful for what I have and for the new friends I’m constantly making. New England’s greatest asset is the friendly, talkative people in the small community known as The Blackstone River Corridor. Uxbridge has just 3200 people. I love that! Thanks for keeping in touch. 🙂

Ahhhh thank you much:) So cool that Speedy traveled well to Kent and back home. Happy you all had a good time with Speedy. I know Ellie needs to go with us when we go to the beach next. We will have to rent a dog friendly condo…and she will love it and we will love it as Ellie will be with us:)

Your photos always remind me of what an incredibly beautiful country we live in……from sea to shining sea and back again. I think “city folk” forget what wide open spaces and night skies can do for the mood…….it makes hearts happy. Sam and I send greetings to the critters!!

My Mama just came back from Portland too. She loved it. We live in North Carolina, and Mama is ancient, so it took her about a week to get over tbe time changes and the flights ( both red- eyes). She loved it…all the flowers, the trees…the lack of humidity. She says it is so green.

Hi Skyler! I’m glad your Mama was able to visit Portland, it is a beautiful city with the flowers and green everywhere but can get dreary at times, they get lots of rain there. We live 200 miles from Portland in the Eastern part of Oregon and we are much drier than Portland…our humidity average is 10 to 15%. You will have to join Mama on her next adventure and come to Eastern Oregon.I have never been to North Carolina…someday I hope to get back that way! Sending wishes for a beautiful day.
