HI HRCG the Sinusitis finally eased off last week but then it flared up after what happened to Siddhartha Henry & I on Saturday night. (See new blog).
So my Sinuses are still dodgy & I am fighting ff some Flu or cold…ugh…..
The FCR event is raising money again; raffling off a new flat screen TV. We are running the raffle til Feb.13th & picking winner on Valentine’s Day.
Our Adoption event will happen Feb.12th & 13th.
I am staying in quite a lot. I gave the Purrince kisses from you an he purred!

How absolutely awful for the other horse also! That trainer sounds she is clueless….I would have dropped her like a ‘hot potato’ also! A pregnant mare should be allowed to rest & not be zooming all over the place. The foal died with the mar? Even sadder…
I agree with you that starting horses out at 2-3 is ridiculous. That is why I get angry about Thoroughbred racing…..it upsets me so much. The world just seems to operate on making money & the poor animals are just ‘cash cows’ (so to speak!)
As for the not getting sick…too late….I realize I just got over the Pneumonia from September & in fact I still had wheezing in right lung last month. I just got carried away; tow trucks do THAT to me, hahaha….
I went out yesterday to get Siddhartha Henry’s foods; Probiotic & Lysine. So we should be good right thru til last week of February. I was out less than an hour with Sheila. I am staying in Wed & Thurs & resting. Friday & Saturday I am working with Feral Cat group (indoors) doing a new Raffle!
Thank you for praying for me & being such a great friend. sending ❤ LOVE ❤ & best wishes to you & WB, Ellie Belle & Melody & all the 4 leggeds.

Yes it was terrible to hear about her horse…she is clueless but she thinks she is the greatest…and I did drop her in a New York minute! So senseless and stupid and oh my Hobby had days when it was worse even with strong pain meds…it broke my heart, she was awesome and personable too. I miss her…she is buried next to my mare Lottie that I had in the early 80’s and 90’s. Yes I agree on the racing too, they are so young and their bones are not strong…and you are right its all about money at the horses expense and often their lives….makes me ill too.
Are you feeling better yet or still wheezing? I hope that the feral cat group event made you smile and that many were adopted to forever homes:) Love and Prayers…big Hugs:) Give the Purrrince kitty loves for me too…stay inside and get better…be a good girl:) Love Ya Lots!

*typing thru’ my tears* Dear sweet Hobby!
And how utterly devastated you must have been….9 is so young for a horse, but you did the right thing for Hobby….
I have seen horses founder & they do not recover well enough to enjoy their lives/ Loving a 4 legged can be hard can’t it???
I hear you about the braces! I have 2 ankle braces; 3 knee braces & 2 wrist braces….I think a ;body brace’ is next purchase, hahahaha!!!
As for surgery I KNOW I need a entire new knee. What concerns me is my Weight (as I am quite overweight) & the Blood Pressure issue & the prolonged recovery needed & not having proper Home Care (it truly sucks here!). Plus I would need help with Siddhartha Henry & no one is ‘lining up’ for that……
I have fund wearing a knee stabilizer brace daily works quite well. I have 2 new braces for my knees when I go out so I have that sorted out. My Physical Med Doctor does not want me to have surgery either. So I just grin (sort of) & bear it!
And yes I had fun helping the Tow Truck fellow; now I am sick with Fever & Sinusitis but it was so much fun at the time….lol….

It was truly awful Sherri-Ellen….but no it was not founder or anything involved with feed. I know how to feed and what to watch for…and have seen horses like that too and no it is not good. She trained hard by the trainer I bought her from. My vet was one of the best horse vets in the nation…he is seriously very good! He felt that she was ridden too young by the trainer before I bought her and that her lack of tissue between some of the bones was due to an inherited potential to develop this odd disease. He said that Hobby carried her pain from the time she was young and in carrying me, she had a huge heart….so big that she kept me safe, even thought she hurt. The day she fell was a perfect day outside, not hot at all, about 68 to 70 degrees. I had only been on her a few seconds/minutes as we were walking around the arena taking our time and BOOM…she fell over on her right side.
Hobby was beautiful inside and out! She carried me for 7 years without flinching…that is why I love horses so much…and really all animals:) They love us with a pure love of heart….no games and no manipulations.
Since that happened….the same trainer took her own dream horse and did the same thing to her….her mare was pregnant and yet she was competing on her in cutting events. Her mare died of kidney failure with her foal, the mare was 7 years old.
Horses anymore are started so young and ridden hard to win competitive events…it was common in the old days for horses to be between 3-5 years old before they were started and eventually broke to ride….let them grow their bones first and get strong….and be a horse before we ask them to be our partner:)

Thankfully the flare-up calmed down! Polishing brass did my hands in. Now I remember why I gave all the brass away…..
Not sure what set my knee off….I am now wearing my knee brace all day & it does help lessen the pain. The shoulder is almost all healed up; I pulled it shoveling snow.
I will refill my Codeine in March when I go for my 3 month appointment.
As for knee surgery…..I am not so sure I want to do that…..I can’t make up my mind!!!

I do know what you mean…my left wrist is causing me huge issues. I fell and cracked it in fourth grade….the summer before 8th grade I had to have surgery on it due to growth plates…steel pins and all. Once they took the pins out I was to go back to using it…it took me a few years of being careful before it was ok…weak but ok. Well this year it has thrown a huge fit…oh man when it flares up I can not use that wrist at all…twisting or raising it up or whatever…it is painful. I also have a bad knee, my right one…it caused me issues way back when I was riding everyday gathering cattle..and no clue why? I would hold off on the knee surgery…when my horse fell on me in 2005 I lost the use of my right ankle due to ripping all support of it…there is surgery for this condition but…no I will stand it as long as I can:) The older we get the more cautious…wisdom it is:) Wisdom!
Be careful please…be careful…sending prayers and hugs:)

These childhood breaks seem to come back & ‘haunt’ us when we reach a certain age 😦
Phooey! I am sorry about your wrist….my right wrist has Carpal Tunnel & I did get Cortisone Steroid shot for it. Sometimes it works great & other times OUCH! I have a regular wrist brace for daytime use & a fancy CT brace for bedtime. My left knee needs Arthroscopic surgery but Surgeon did not seem ‘interested’ in setting it up. My right knee is completely done & I need a total replacement. However with my BP issue & being overweight I am not a ‘candidate’ for surgery…..so I just wear Tensor Knee stabilizer brace during walking hours. I have a pair of them for when I go out. So it looks like I will be like this for rest of life…. OH MY! That accident in ’05 sounds like it was horrific! Do you need to wear an ankle brace at times?? You are amazing to still be zipping around so well….I had NO idea you had that much pain to deal with! I am not sure how ‘wise’ I am; I am hesitant to undergo a BIG surgery at this point for the above reasons plus the Home Care here is not very reliable & I would need help with Siddhartha Henry & no one is going to commit to helping me with him for more than a few days; never mind a few weeks…
Last night (Friday) Ruth & I got stranded after tie rod broke on truck. She called CAA & I hollered “Send young Dave” & they did & I helped him load & unload the truck & get it into her parking spot. Got up into the Flatbed cab like I was 18 again! I had such a good time & I was soaked to the skin by the time I got inside! Had a warm shower; used heating rub & into snuggle PJ’s & a bit mug of hot tea! Today I am achey but nothing serious! And I have to say any aches & pains would have been worth it!!!! I so miss being a Tow Truck O/O….. 😉

I am smiling and giggling at you and Ruth out and about….what an adventure you had:):):) I love those times:) Great memories and was good for your spirit to step back with good memories and step up to that truck and take charge smiling all the way! I do know what you mean as I get that same feeling when I am on horseback moving cattle in the middle of nowhere:) Its how God made us and it feels right:)
Yeah my wrist causes me more fits now than the ankle…I need to look into a wrist brace…the bone on the outer part of the wrist has gotten larger and is swollen most of the time now…it is annoying to say the least! The worst when I am trying to curl my hair and the pain if I rotate it at all…ho hum! Yes my right ankle throws fits…it tore all of the ligaments and tendons that do not grow back…happened six months before the bc did and I put it off…was in a walking cast most of that summer into fall but I worked the ankle flexing it all the time so I can move pretty good but…I wear flat boots most of the time and shop for boot heels with other shoes…have fallen if my right foot steps on anything un-even like even a piece of gravel, my ankle gives out…not fun but like you I feel at this point surgery will not help unless they invent surgery for our old injuries that works instantly….ha-ha! Well it would be nice:) I do have an ankle brace to wear out but often forget to grab it…mainly I watch every step I take to make sure I don’t step on anything that would twist it.
The hardest part of my horse falling on me was that she had something wrong in her front feet….vet thought it was inherited and she had it from birth. I bought her when she was 2 and her name was Hobby…she and I were best buddies as I rode her miles and miles. She fell on me out of the blue it happened so fast…she did not move. My right foot was still in the stir up with a spur on it…I have long legs and I was stuck under her. I worried she would come to and roll back on me to get up…and I worried she was very ill too. I yelled for WB but the noise that day in the shop kept him from hearing me. I finally yanked and yanked and somehow I got my foot out of my boot and eventually got out from under her but I could not stand and she was yet unconscious. About then my hubby heard me and came running…I was ok and told him to please see to Hobby…I sat on the ground as he got Hobby some water as he saw she was breathing and then all of a sudden she woke up and stood up looking at me like why are you down there?
My vet came out as WB took me to the emergency room…initially the vet felt she had a pinched nerve which hurt her bad enough to pass out…I took her to the vet school at WSU and they could not find anything wrong…about then I was diagnosed so Hobby spent all of 2006 resting up and she seemed to be ok. In 2007 I was going to ride her again and could see that she was not ok…she clearly had something off in her front feet. My vet x-rayed and told me he could see that she had lost some of her tissue between her bones….he had not thought of her feet before nor had the vet school as they thought it was her neck or back. We tried every kind of treatment we could for her and sadly, by Feb. 2008 I knew she was suffering and her quality of life was not great. She was on heavy pain meds and could hardly put weight on her feet. We had her next to the house…she was in a small area so she did not have to walk far for water and feed and loves from me. My vet gave me options of trying surgery on her feet with no guarantees..I had to make the decision that life for her was not good and she loved me so and I her. My vet came out and put her to sleep…she crossed the horses rainbow bridge. I thought I would die too….like with Minnie. It was awful. She was only 9 years old….and she was my girl.
Sorry for the longer email…I began telling you the story and it was longer than I thought….sending hugs my friend!

The work outside our building is not completed however we are enjoying the peace & quiet. Not as many sirens ether so another bonus.
Siddhartha Henry is doing REALLY well.
So the G-I Kibble & wet food & Probiotic are working properly. And he is able to still eat his Performatrim Beef pate! I introduced Blue Buffalo Flaked Tuna & no ill effects so he has a bit of variety.
I also have a specific daily feeding plan. Breakfast AND supper are G-I wet food with a bit of beef mixed in & some Probiotic. Morning snack is some Beef pate & night snack is tuna. I add any more Probiotic powder I have left. So he has a steady flow of it in his digestive system. I am going to introduce Blue Buffalo Chicken Pate some time this week. As long as the basis of food (kibble & 2 actual meals) are G-I he does fabulously!
My ex-fiancé is going to pay my Cable for me so that will free up a bit more $$$.
A few people had emailed about my monthly costs but no one got back to me. I gave the Vet’s name & phone number also. No one has put any $$ down on our account. After Nylablue I can’t expect any help.
    This coming 22nd is 1st anniversary….yours 24th….*sighs*

Hi HRCG it has been such a l-o-n-g 4 months. Now that Siddhartha Henry has been on new foods & probiotic for 2 weeks there has been a lot of improvement. His bowels are 99% better & his behavior has settled down considerably!
There is NO organization here to assist. Mary-Ellen (previous owner) paid for the Homeopathy & when it made him so sick I emailed Homepath & asked if she could give M-E partial refund. never heard a word back. I gave M-E. 20 cans of Fancy Feast for her barn cats…so if I need something I know she will help. Sheila paid 1/2 the Vet bill & I am making payments back to her. One of our faithful readers paid the other 1/2 of Vet bill & I do not have to repay.
I have re-worked my budget & I can manage as long as nothing else crops up.
Poor Siddhartha Henry was broken physically & emotionally. At least Sheila & Mary-Ellen are able & willing to help.
it is still a struggle tho’. He still has bad moments but now I can understand why he is acting up… And I can still use Bach’s Remedy on him….

I can’t imagine how hard this is for you both! Is there any organization that would help with SH’s food cost? Something that would help people raising feral cats with a chronic illness or maybe someone or thing can help support your commitment to SH…you adopted a beautiful little kitty but he was emotionally broken so I wonder if there is an organization to help out with the cost etc. It may be in your area or it may be a rescue organization that is in Canada or even worldwide?

There is a smaller version for small doge but the ball is still to big for a small cat….Siddhartha Henry loves to play ‘fetch’ with his crinkle ball & his mousies…

I wish they made smaller versions for cats!

Thank you! They were fun to capture…we love our animals as they are family. I get such a kick out of their antics and their expressions…they bring joy each day with lots of smiles and giggles!
