The Views Of Life Off My Patio……

The views of life off my patio,

DSC01967

Are ever changing year round…and never boring!

DSC05182

“Hello Houston, we have a problem!!!”

DSC03098

Memorial Day weekend…the fields were green and beautiful!

DSC03103

Ten days later, we were cooking on a 108 degree afternoon…the wheat turned golden in a few days, looks like harvest on June 8th…and whoa!

SONY DSC

Normally you would see the wheat turn slowly through the month of June…with harvest beginning sometime in July.

DSC03143

I have never seen the wheat head out in mid May or my flowers bloom in early March…nor did I have to mow the yard for the first time the beginning of March!

DSC03108

Crazy if you ask me…is it global warming or a season of drought?

DSC03019

In the local paper today, and I quote “Wheat yields are projected to take such a hit this summer that some Eastern Oregon growers may not even harvest their crop. Sparse rainfall and diminished snow pack have impacted producers all across the West, but an unseasonable heat wave in late May and early June hit developing wheat plants at exactly the wrong time. The heat wave came as wheat plants were in the stage of filing out their grain kernels. Foreign countries, Japan and Korea, that buy the soft white wheat from the Pacific Northwest will not want what we offer this year….as the protein levels will be too high for what they require to bake their breads, crackers and etc.”

DSC03258

It has been an odd year…from the crazy weather to the incredible love of my animals! I love my girl above…Melody is the melody of my heart:)

What

Oh my Minnie Girl…I miss you so…sometimes I think I see you out of the corner of my eye…and when I am sitting on the sofa, I’m sure you are on the back of the sofa, where you observed the world and me…I miss your sweetness and those big green eyes, always filled with mischievous love…this time of year was your favorite time.

DSC07196

How you loved the smells, the sounds of crickets and the sounds of birds tweeting to you all day long! Its ok sweet kitty girl, someday I will see you again and we will snuggle with lots of nose kisses, head bumps, tummy rubs and lots of purring….my sweet Min Mouse…my forever kitty girl.

DSC03009

And then there is Ellie, she loves me…she loves when I brush her each day from top to bottom, she loves the sense of being rubbed…I think it is due to a sense of being licked by her mama…and I am her mama…it brings us both comfort.

DSC02736

She is incredibly smart and intuitive…a very protective girl. She is a blessing from God and my Minnie, in her beautiful Australian fur.

DSC03330

Droughts, life lived and life lost, being loved and the pain that comes from loving too much…I would rather have the pain from loving too much as to me that is a life well lived. We love naturally and we live courageously….loving our loved ones and the life we have…is a very simple life.

SONY DSC

HRCG over and out for now…but never for long:)

DSC03212

Have a simply wonderful week wherever you are!

HI HRCG>>>>great news: The Bach’s Rescue Remedy is working!!!!!! Really working to calm Siddhartha Henry down!!! I am so so so relieved!!! He still has some ‘crazypants’ in him but not as severe as it was. He is not acting out as much either.
I was TOTALLY panicked when I saw him running up the stairs. He has not tried that again! Also I am not allowing him to walk into or out of the Condo because he will just dash off to the grass. He is either in the Condo lifted in & out or I carry him.
Burmese are a ‘paw full’ to start with. I am determined we are going to stay together….I have spoken to a lot of people who say by the time he is 2 years old he will be calmer & more mature & the cat I want…
    With Mary-Ellen & Sheila’s help I believe I can raise this ‘crazypants’……
If things do fall apart again Mary-Ellen will take him back. Just knowing I have that option helps a lot!
I so-o enjoyed snuggling Skip & Zoe! I miss having access to horses….
    Something to work on 😉
Thanks for being here for us!
    HRCG you ROCK too!!!!

Bach’s has helped to a point. I am now combining with Calming Treats before I lose my tiny mind! He really is a handful I can tell you.
I am determined to calm him down; sending him back to the farm is not an option!

Gosh darn that is one stubborn little guy but maybe he is testing you too…the trust issue that our animals need. He does sound like a handful! I’m so glad to hear that resolve in your voice that “Darn it, I will get this figured out with the Puuurrince!” Sending you big hugs:)

I know it is a huge undertaking! Once you have sorted things out & get organized it Will be easier to maintain order!!!
Purrince Siddhartha Henry has had 2 doses of Bach’s & he is calmer in some ways. Not yowling & meowing like a mad cat!
He did get out of apartment today tho’; so quickly I did not notice! Locked the door. Looked down the hall & he was at the end of it! Then he started running up the stairs & I tried to run after him calling his name, Thankfully one of the fellows from upstairs was coming down & that stopped him in his tracks! I yelled ‘Siddhartha down’ & he laid down so I was able to grab him & bring him back safely.
I ended up in tears again.
I am at my wit’s end. I have never had a cat this wild before. I called Mary Ellen again & told her I am giving the Bach’s Remedy 2 weeks & if it does not settle him down then she will have to take him back. It will break my heart…but my nerves are so frazzled.
Now I wonder if I have made a mistake 😦
The good news is I got to stroke & snuggle 2 horses today!!! Skip the Quarterhorse Palomino an Zoe a bay Quarterhorse! Hopefully we will blog about it sometime over the weekend.
Kiss the ‘girls’ for me & thank you for your prayers!

Hi there…just checking to see how things are going with Siddhartha Henry? I hope all is well but…it is ok Sherri-Ellen if you have to give him back. I have never had a feral cat but I have had barn cats and they can be very wild, we keep them fed but they will watch from a distance…having Purrince get out and run from you would be awful and I can imagine the panic! It is cool he laid down for you and no you have not made a mistake, you have tried to help him and love him but as you mentioned he may be too wild and it sounds like Burmese kitty cats can be a handful anyway and to add the feral on top may be too much no matter what or who has him. I know it hurts….but you have to do the thing that is best for Siddhartha and for you….
Thats way cool that you got to snuggle the horses:) Quarterhorses Rock!!! ((((Sending hugs, lots of heartfelt thoughts and prayers))))

Hello HRCG! After reading your blog with pix about the dust storms & no wind & the fire I totally understand….
This has been one rough season for you! This is only our 2nd heatwave & it has broken today so we are all out on patio’s enjoying the breeze!
I hope you finished the cleaning/sorting out process!!! I g thru my things every 6 months. Mind you I only have 400 square feet so not alot of extra stuff!!!
Oh boy higher cereal prices! It’s always something. I love Shredded Wheat & Oatmeal Crisp & Shreddies…..guess I will buying when they are on sale.
I have been having a lot of trouble with the ‘littul Purrince’. He acts like he is Hyperactive or possessed….after ALOT of consultation with people on blogs & in our Feral Ct group I have decided to buy Bach’s Rescue Remedy & start him on that! Siddhartha Henry is ok til after his supper & then he goes crazy; climbing the walls & trying to knock paintings off walls. He’s broken a few of my things in the past month. Won’t listen to me & has even went after me a few times. I called Mary-Ellen last nite & she is coming in tomorrow (Friday the 31st) to help me with him. If I need a respite she said she would take him home for a while!
I do not WANT to give him back however I am having trouble handling him!
Anyway, I am taking things one day at a time…
Kiss Ellie Belle for me & lovely Melody!!!

I’m still sorting and cleaning things out…it will take me several weeks overall to get it done but it will feel good when I do!I plan to be like you once I get it all organized, sort and clean every six months! I’m praying that all will go well with Purrince today and that he can just rest. And I am praying hard for you too as I feel your pain…you have done so much for him…but you have to also take care of you too and you need some rest, some peace and quiet and time….lifting you up to God…keep me posted ok….Ellie and Mel send kisses back to you too:):)

I know HRCG!! It is mid July! I have barely ‘done anything’ special. I did go on a road trip yesterday!!! It was nice to go somewhere else for a while….
It is a bit humid here & the weekend is supposed to be hot & sunny & humid…we have had a moderate Summer so I am not complaining.
As for ‘kittyboy’ I can’t believe it has been 7 months already too….crazy!!!!
I think the ‘Minnie’ & ‘Nylablue’ moments will ease off after the year anniversary….I found that with Mingflower….
It is funny (in a good way) how we found each other here….our girls were so clever!

Don’t shoot me for being so slow with answering…this summer has had me distracted more with life outside and also inside…cleaning out stuff that has been here way too long! I hate the clean out mess but I love to organize:) Most of the time…not always…but mostly it feels good to know where things are at and to get rid of stuff. We have not done much either this summer but the fire risk out here has kept us home more. Harvest usually begins in early to mid July…most farmers are done as in finished with their harvest which is crazy. The drought affected the wheat when it was developing the kernels of grain…in other words it is an empty or shriveled head of straw….not good for the American farmer or the world farmers…lower grain supplies means higher food prices….and no we do not get any of the price raises…it is a scary time in the world:( But we can pray and focus on the positive. Anyway….blah blah!:)
I am so glad that you have the Purrice:) And I am so thankful that you are my friend and our girls are incredibly sweet:) Huggzzz and kitty loves for the kittyboy:)

Why does Life seem to get faster HRCG??? I can’t imagine working AND doing blogging etc. I am so far behind with Siddhartha Henry’s Birthday post (Thurs, July 9th) & today’s Sunday Selfie post….I am trying to reply to comments from 2 weeks ago!!!! YIKES!!
As for the pushy guy I told him straight up July 1st he did not have a hope in Heaven or anywhere else….he went away…he did call a couple of times but I did not answer…so he has given up. I am vigilant when I put out bird seed at nite…just in case…I am far too ‘mature’ for all this drama! 😉
Our girls are together…I was reading NB’s last post & then the post did for Minnie Mouse & I cried like a baby. Siddhartha Henry came right over an ~~head rubbed~~ me.
I am so glad I have him here!!!
    He turned 1 year old…been here 7 months….amazing!

I’m not sure how it gets going faster but it seems to fly….summer is half over and before we know it, fall will be upon us….and I know I will not be ready at all! I love summer but with cooler temps. Wow I can’t believe that our sweet kitty boy is a year and has been with you 7 months!!! That is that time I was saying….it speeds by us! Like you too I have Minnie moments when I cry and I do miss her so much….her sweet gentle spirit was precious to me…as NB’s was and is to you too. I am glad that our girls are together playing in heaven with lots of snuggle from my Mom and lots of treats as they wait for us to get there one of these days. I am glad that you have Purrince and I have Ellie and Mel too….we are blessed and being looked after from above:) Hugs and kitty pats….love you both:)

you are so welcome HRCG! Sorry I have not been ‘talkative’ of late. There has been a lot going on & I have been distracted with Siddhartha Henry’s care & dealing with a rather unpleasant situation (a guy who fancies me but he is not the kind of man I want to be with & he was a bit pushy). I think this is now sorted…I sure hope so. I value my independence & do not want a man with enough baggage to pack on a train!!!! LOL 🙂
Sending good wishes your way! Our girls are looking down on us!!! I am glad they are together!

No way you do not need another persons baggage….nope nada and NO! You are at a time in life that is to be free of all of that and instead happy and fun:)
I am glad they are together too…and you are truly a blessing to me:) Love and hugs to my bestest:) Love, Marcy

Hope the weather is giving you a break.
Wish there was some way of moving water from one part of the country to the other. There’s no reason why it can’t be done. It’s abnormally green here near Galveston, TX for this time of year. And thundering again (we are near the bay so flooding is not an issue as it runs off quickly)
    Ellie is beautiful.
Our Molly is bored from all the time indoors – and it’s too hot really during the summer for her to be outside much anyway with her heavy malamute coat.
Well, this too will all pass. Take care. Enjoy all those early morning country sounds.

So far it is yet incredibly hot…very low humidity….so we are under fire watch and also heat advisory. It is to be hotter over the weekend again…hardest part is the nights do not cool off. Tonight at least we have a slight breeze coming up the canyon…it is all so odd to have it so hot and no relief in sight from any rains. Most farmers here this year will be farming with insurance…unless they are blessed enough to have irrigation which no one has out here. Is your green weather this year unusual? I love Ellie so much, she is a heart companion…like Minnie was only this time in dog fur:) Yes, Ellie only gets to come out during the evening hours to play as it is too hot for her and for me….I am sitting on the patio and she is playing in the cool green grass…and the dang biting flies and mosquitos too! I hope you are having a good summer with lots of good stuff:) I do love the early morning sounds except when I stay up too late….then it is not so great:( However, I know the beautiful sounds I hear in the dawn hours and in the evening hours are so blessed…and I am blessed too:)

Totally inspiring blog HRCG!!! The photos are so beautiful & you capture the changing days so well. I know you are missing Minnie Mouse cat as I still miss Nylablue. Sometimes I think I see her running by; doing a binky like a rabbit like she used to do. I have even watched Siddhartha Henry watching ‘something’…..even with his ‘ouchie’ eye 😉
Melody is looking so fine…I wish I had a horse….but having lived either here in a town or in a bigger city that was not possible.
I am sorry the harvest may not be bountiful>>>our weather is below average temps & our crops are soggy!!!
This planet is not right 😦
Sending you (((HUGS))) & best wishes,
    Sherri-Ellen & Siddhartha Henry ❤ ❤

Thank you so much:) We are to hit 110 degrees here by Sunday…I think the weather is off for all of us…it is strange. With this next couple of weeks, we are under a heat advisory due to the low humidity and hot hot hot temps. They say we will set some records here and our mountains will be in the 90’s. I worry about fires and etc. Hugs, HRCG

Love the sky shots! Being a State north of you, we too are having the strange weather. Snow pack was 21% of normal this year and the Kettle River behind the house looks like its August not June. We were up in the high country on the weekend and the 3 lakes we visited usually still have some snow at this time of year.

Thank you so much:) We are really close then as if I go over the hill I will cross into Washington…I am about an hour from Walla Walla. We are the same with snow pack averages this year and have heard of lakes being down in the high country. We are going into a long hot heat wave beginning on Thursday. They say we may be setting heat records here as by Sunday this weekend we will be around 110 degrees down here and up in the mountains, they will be in the 90’s. Next week going into July they are saying 105 degrees plus each day. We have lots of dry wheat around us right now and it would not take much for a fire so we are on alert. It is odd to see the changes so clearly everywhere. I will look up the Kettle River to see where you are located….it sounds beautiful:)

My Saskatchewan family is experiencing drought-like weather this year also. here in MI it’s rain rain rain – very green but we’re pretty close to over our rain limits — so crazy.

Like your minnie girl, sometimes I swear I see Frankie in my peripheral vision, especially out in the yard when I’m putzing around out there. I’m so glad you have your Ellie to love on you 🙂

    Bests! MJ

Its odd how everywhere the weather seems off. Is your family also worried about the crops and the overall long term effects? Beginning tomorrow here we are to climb in high temps each day for a few weeks….setting new records of 110 degrees by the weekend and then next week will continue with 105 degree days…it is scary as things are so dry here, and fire is a worry.

I knew you would understand with Minnie…Frankie was a life long furry family member too. I know that Ellie is too, she is so sweet to me and a part of my heart. Someday we will see them both again…

      Big Hugs,
      HRCG and Ellie:)

Yes they are quite concerned. Some farmers may just burn their crops off with weed killer and collect crop insurance. Plants are barely germinating – they are not yet getting the high heat but that will come. There are fires to the north and in N. Alberta, to the west. Scary times.
Miss Minnie was such a pretty kitty; I will always miss my Frankie like you miss her but know he is under Heaven’s kitchen table enjoying snacks with my Dad 🙂 Give sweet Ellie a good pet and a gentle hug from me – Cheers! MJ
