Dreams Call Softly…

Dreams call softly to my heart as autumn slowly slips by…

SONY DSC

I love the colors and the beauty of the land in my simple world! My imagination runs away as I can see and hear two young boys, my Dad and his older brother, riding horses bareback out here…galloping along playing Cowboys and Indians teasing one another back and forth…simple dreams and imaginations of two young boys playing in God’s country.

DSC05157

Often our sunsets are full of fire with licks of flame in the clouds above, double-click on the picture and you will see the flames, and maybe Puff the Magic Dragon…incredible beauty on a typical autumn night.

Me on my horse Red

Dreams are so much a part of us…as children we believe anything is possible, I’m Annie Oakley in this photo:) And yet as we grow up, we often loose the ability to dream as we have been told to grow up and work to earn a living. But we long for our dreams and no I am not talking about a bigger house or a new car, I’m talking about life dreams…the dreams of who we want to be or what we want to do with our life.

SONY DSC

Often we can feel the dream but do not know what to do with it…sometimes its right in front of you but you can’t see it or can you? I struggle with that at times as I have many dreams for my life and for my life with WB.

DSC01951

Instead of pursuing our dreams we go with the flow of the life we live, eventually our dreams get pushed to the back of our life…we have too much to do and not enough time to get everything done as it is…so we put off our dreams for a few more months that turn into a few years as time passes by…

SONY DSC

What are my dreams? I have several but the biggest dream I have is to write a book of my life and the various chapters I have crammed into a few years time. Mainly I want to write and develop my skill more and just write. I also want to shoot photos and learn how to take the best shots, with the eye and ability to do it automatically…and it’s game on:) I tend to do that now every time I pick up my camera as it fits my hand like a glove:)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My dreams of writing are not to be famous…I want to help others by sharing the wisdom I have learned in my life. I have lived through a zillion circumstances…both hard times and good times with some great stories to tell. I became a family counselor in 1995 and the last few years since I heard of EAGALA, I have been interested in using horses to counsel people, which would meld my love of horses to helping others heal their hearts and would be very cool:) Those are just a few of my dreams…and I have had them for a long time:)

DSC04553

Hang on to your dreams, don’t let life and work crowd in causing you to loose them, keep your dream in your heart and believe that someday it will come true:) I do believe our dreams are God given to give us hope as hope develops perseverance which develops our faith in the things we can not see. The greatest gift we can give to ourselves is to dream, believe and to never give up our hope that yes we can develop those God given dreams, they can come true:)

DSC04365

What is your hope and your dream…no matter how outside of the box?

DSC05315

As I take off for now….I leave you with a verse that has played through my head all day…see if you can figure out what song it goes to?

All the leaves are brown,

And the sky is gray,

I’ve been for a walk,

On a winter’s day.

I’d be safe and warm…

Love this post!! I like the idea that some of your followers are mentioning about the coffee table book!! It’s a great idea!! You’re basically doing it right now…with your awesome stories of life on the ranch then & now…and your spectacular photos of God’s scenery and animals!! Research how to do it!! And do it! Writing’s obviously God’s gift to you…and you’re writing about His beautiful land!!

    God Bless and Merry Christmas!!

Ahhhh thank you so much:) I love writing about God as He is everywhere and we are not alone ever…He goes before us and behind us…He knows every part of us and our lives, as He knit us together in our Mom’s womb….I love that God loves me and He has blessed my life so much…I may not travel the world and actually I am happy to go to town and get a good sale item at Safeways…and I have many nice Pendleton Wool skirts and dresses but I wear jeans, simple shirts and boots…BUT, God has given me so much in life, many God lessons and many awesome sunrises after a dark night…and joyful sunsets that speak His amazing love. I love writing about all that I see and taking photos is the icing on the cake of showing God’s world:)
Wordy writer here:) I send you God wishes full of His love for a Merry Christmas and a wonderful Happy New Year! I am checking and researching on the book and also on writing a book:)

My drama team kids know I’m a wordy writer, too…when they get my e-mails each week!! Ha! It’s the teacher in me, too…they don’t stand a chance of “short & sweet”…they always get “long & detailed!!”

You do have a distinct lifestyle that interests so many people…write on, write on!!

Thank you so much:) I think our whole life is a learning experience but that makes it fun too:) I love your blog and checking in to see what you are up to…go figure but I love country music…I love all music but country is my thing. The last year I have gotten hooked to Outlaw Country radio, it is both good and funny and at times well hmmmm. Your photos are good…I love the different captures of people and life! My motto is just do it! I may not know all the camera lingo as I call the button the one in the middle or the one that turns left…and just go for it:) We’ll never know it all but we can enjoy the ride trying:)

🙂 “California Dreaming” is the song…this was the first song on the radio I learned ALL the words to. I remember walking home from school during a cold Canadian winter singing this song to keep warm…I did not know where this ‘California’ was but it sure sounded lovely!!! I never have gone there but have seen many shows that take place there… 😉
Your post is absolutely so powerful & real & touched me so very deeply!! I had dreams, as we all do when we are younger & some of them came true. Many have not & some are forgotten in the mists of time for me…..
I can not say anything more profound than you have written here HRCG….
Without sounding maudlin due to my health (or lack thereof) the dreams are only that….
However I have built a little world for myself…..I have Nylablue for my cat companion & I have a bird friendly patio/front yard. Squirrels & Chipmunks visit also. Taking care of them gives me such peace. Having Pigeons here this year was a dream come true as I have had flocks before in the big city & love to have them around…I am taking care of a feral cat also. I also donate food & supplies to our local Feral group. My dream was to have a place where I could care for the 4 leggeds & winged creatures; so in this tiny way I am fulfilling my dream…
Being a publsihed writer has drifted away also due to my poor health. Blogging is now my outlet. Reading others blogs is wonderful & keeps me connected to the world. Altho I am not able to physically travel; I can visit all over the world daily simply by visiting someone’s blog…for me the lesson I had to learn was to accept what I could not change & learn to adapt to my situation & to accept things as they are…Thank you for your wonderful insight; I think you inspired me here. I hope I did not waffle on too much, lol.
    Sincerely Sherri-Ellen

Oh I am sorry you have been hit with that darn flu bug…it is going around I know…take good care of you Sherri-Ellen:) You are very special and important to Nylablue and many of us bloggers who always look for your blog happenings:) I am happy that Nyla is doing well and enjoying her life…such a blessing for her and for you:) Your heart is so full of love and tenderness, as evidenced with Nyla’s care, the feral kitty, the pigeons and birds….all are very blessed by your kind heart. I am like you in that life caught me and many of my dreams drifted away too…but we can grab them again, sometimes it is kind of awkward but ok too. I returned to college when our last child graduated which was awesome to me as I love love love to learn….but to him having his mother on the same small campus was awful! I thought it was great! I am like you in taking care of the animals and loving them…I may be wrong but I often can see in their hearts and their needs…someday I always tell everyone that when I go to heaven I know God will let me care for the animals and you can find me there:) And I do believe a million percent that all our animals will be there waiting for us to show up:) The gift of life you are giving to sweet Nyla is beautiful:) Hang on to your dreams and never let them go no matter how hard life is or what we have to do to survive…God gives us those dreams and I know He arranged for you to take care of the four legged as He knows your heart and knows that was one of your dreams….that is very cool:) Sending healing prayers for you and Nyla and big hugs:)
      Love, HRCG

I will say this: a coffee table book of your glorious pictures + quips of wisdom learned along life’s highway would be snapped up by this country gal.

Your photos & life lessons take me back to my childhood days, riding my pony and playing cops & robbers on horseback. Oh, how lucky were we!

    Hugs!

Thank you so much MJ:) Your words always mean a lot to me as I admire your writers heart and your blog as you always make me think:) Your words and questions, go deep as one reads and I love that kind of writing:) Its meaty and goes to my writers heat and often makes me think of stuff that I had not thought of for a long time…and dig deeper:) I would love to do a coffee table book of the photos but I have no idea how you go about that…

It blesses my heart so much to hear that the photos and life lessons impact you and also others…I love that:) I also loved playing cops and robbers and cowboys and Indians and Annie Oakley and Black Beauty and oh almost forgot Flicka….loved those shows and stories…Mr. Ed was my buddy and well every horse show that there was:) Yes we were both very blessed that we have the good memories that we do:)

Hugs and Prayers that you have good dreams of your childhood days…and since it is a dream I will ride up to Canada to see you on my trusty steed…well maybe we will fly:)

When I get all stressed out in my job I close my eyes and think back to being a braid-wearing cap-gun totin’ gal riding my pony at full speed and racing through the coulee as my cousins chased me on theirs. It always makes me smile .. as do your beautiful photos & thoughts 🙂

I do appreciate where I live too:) After being in the MIddle East for a three week tour in 1998, I was so thankful when we touched down at JFK….then on to Portland. I was back home the next day sitting on the front porch watching wheat harvest…it was so surreal. I was so thankful to God that He chose for me to live in the USA and to live here. I love to take photos to share the beauty and the peace that it is here. Don’t laugh but so far today I have not seen a car or pick up drive by out on the main road…during summer months when harvest is in full swing, then we will have more traffic going by. I do thank God every day for living here:)

Definitely The Mamas and The Papas, California Dreaming! One of my all-time favorites. Food for Thought: I am inferring the photos featured are yours. Occasionally I feature different bloggers and their photography along with my poetry at catnip. I have the perfect poetry for some of the photos depicted on this post. Interested on being a guest @ catnip? In fact, the one I have in mind will work for both catnip and her sister site, Awakenings. Here is my email address if I have peeked your interest: poetrybysharla@gmail.com 😆

Your photos and the stories you share in your posts could make an excellent and interesting book! I hope you can reach your dream of publishing your book so you can also carry out the dream of helping others too. I really like how you call our country, “God’s country.” It is true, the vast horizons of wheat fields, the beautiful and colorful sky overhead,….all are part of God’s creations. I love your posts, but have limited time at the library to write but when I visit I come away with so many
    meaningful thoughts!

Thank you so much for your encouraging support and your words:) I do feel so blessed to live here and to have grown up here as well as in the mountains with the cattle…then my hubby and I managed two large cattle ranches in both Wyoming and Oregon, both ranches had incredible scenery and landscapes that changed every minute…the western lifestyle that I have always been blessed to live has been a gift….as I am fortunate to live that life…I have seen incredible beauty in God’s weather and also His storms, incredible beauty of the human heart with animals, in particular with horses, cattle and dogs…the tender cowboy heart and spirit that is always there beneath the tough exterior…going through a 100 year flood was huge, seeing how quickly life can change in seconds taught me so much about the time we have here…I want to write that book…and I will:) Truly your last sentence blesses me so much as I often wonder if my thoughts and descriptions, words etc. hit others as I hope that I can write in a way to draw another person into their own memories and life…as we all have a life full of memories to share:)

I hope your dreams come true – write that book – share your thoughts and keep snapping awesome photos. We can do ANYTHING we set our minds to.

Hi Pam and Sammmy:) It is good to hear from you as always….and thank you. I know I loved that song too:) It was one of the all time best songs of the 1960’s! I do so appreciate your support and encouragement with writing and snapping happily away with my camera. I love them both and love the creative part of writing and finding that perfect shot…the best part is that I can share my photos with you and all who visit my blog. I feel so very blessed to live here and I love sharing what I see and experience in my life here with animals, weather, hot rods and mostly the beauty that is always around us to see and take in. I am making a sign of your last sentence and it will be taped up in my office above my computer:) I love it!!!
