Life With Ms. Ellie, Horse Nuggets And Me!

Life with Ms. Ellie has been one of the greatest blessings and events of our life this summer.

black-tri-female

Here she is at six weeks of age…before we brought her home. She is adorable and then some with her sweet eyes and fun disposition.

black-tri-female4-marcy

She is so smart and attentive to life around her.

SONY DSC

Do you remember Kiah? She is the one in front in this photo from last summer. She is a half-sister to Ellie. They both have the same father. Kiah was super smart…hard to explain but she was smarter than Tucker and Dash…and they are smart. Kiah and Ellie are much more connected to you in relationship and they discern events before they happen…very intuitively smart…good watch dogs…and very protective.

DSC04707

And here is Ms. Ellie the day we brought her home, meeting Tucker, she was 9 weeks and very cute:) She snuggled in my lap the 6-7 hours it took to get home and never got sick…she immediately fit into our hearts:)

DSC04715

Sweet Little Ellie Bell!

DSC05107

And what is she doing but crawling under the fence to snag a horse nugget!

DSC05113

“Honest Mom…I’m only eating two-horse nuggets!”

DSC04777

“Mom I saw Ellie eat three nuggets!”

DSC05139

“Uh-uh no I only ate two really…look at my eyes, I love you Mom.”

DSC05224

And she was soooooo excited after the terrible storm we had that appeared to be some kind of funnel cloud that swept up millions of horse nuggets, depositing them in her yard just for her to have for snacking!

DSC05141

I love the way Ellie lays in the yard…her usual pose as she likes the feel of the cool grass under her…she is so cute:) Can you tell I’m a push over with my girl?

DSC05282

Ellie and I walk together for exercise and to burn off some of the puppy energy she has. Ellie is 15 weeks old now, you can see the maturity coming in her eyes.

DSC05272

And yet as we are heading out for our walk, passing by the arena, I feel a tug behind me on the leash…what? “Ellie, what are you doing….oh geez, more horse nugget snacks sidetracked her!” What is it about horse poop that cow dogs are drawn to? By the way notice her copper bottom is in the shape of a steer head…her little steer head bottom makes me smile no matter what! I loves her lots and lots! We are making many good memories together that I will carry in my heart forever.

DSC05126

Like the first time I took her to our vet for her next vaccination, she was about 11 weeks old. Wild Bill could not go with us that day, darn it! I could not drive and hold her on my lap to comfort her from the intimidating feeling of the Suburban. I had lots of rags just in case she got sick etc. Well about half way to town I smelled it…oh my gosh!!! She had pooped a very smelly one in the back of the Burb! She was so scared that it scared it out of her…I felt so sorry for her. I pulled over to clean it up but I did not have any paper towels or napkins…typical! I figured out a way to hold her in my lap and drove the rest of the way to town one-handed, as I worried for her being scared and was afraid she would walk in it! As soon as we got to the vet’s they had stuff for me to use to clean it up! Ahhhhh yes puppy love! Nothing like picking up smelly gooshy puppy poop with a thin paper napkin….eeeeew!

SONY DSC

Minnie decided Ellie is ok…they give each other respect for being different, which is good. Ellie would love to play with Minnie, but I told her, NO, not until Minnie is ready…Minnie has to know you better. Yet Ellie will protect Minnie if she ever needs it as she looks at her as part of her family. That is the true heart of an Aussie…they love and protect their family.

DSC00518

Kiah would have loved Ms. Ellie too…she would approve. We miss you and love you forever Ms. Kiah:)

DSC05339

“Come on Mom, let’s go explore some more!” Ellie loves our walks as do I! And as I bring this post to a close, Minnie is in her chair with her heat pad on, all snuggled down on one side of me and Ellie is asleep on my feet as I type on the other side of me:) I love our animal babies….each and every one of them:) May you be blessed tonight, knowing that your animals love you and need you…have a wonderful tomorrow!

HRCG, her critters and camera are over and out for now…but not for long!

DSC05111

“I love those horse nuggets! Mom doesn’t know what she is missing!”

So very true:) Ellie had a big walk about this morning and she is snoozing away right now under my legs while Minnie is snoozing away up by my head on the spot on the sofa…and the hubby is snoring away in his recliner! Geez! Ellie has been a whole new experience for Minnie and I as our other dogs have either been my husbands or growing up they were my Dad’s for the cows…I got to play with them but that was about it…so Ellie is my first dog and she loves me which is very cool:)

LOL sounds like it was a real ‘snore fest’ at your place!! I had 2 dogs when I was in my 20’s: Rebecca the English Foxhound for 4 yrs & Bogart Sam for 1 1/2 yrs a Shepherd/Husky cross. Rebecca was so sweet; died from Stomach Cancer…very tragic & when my marriage broke up I had to send Bogart Sam to Humane Society & that was so unpleasant….he DID find a new home & I did see him there happy & that relieved alot of the guilt. There is something special about a human/dog relationship!!! Ellie sounds like she will become your ‘heart dog’ & you will have a wonderful life together. Dogs are so loyal…..
Cats are loyal also but it is on a sifferent level as you know from Minnie….they will thrive & strive to stay alive with our love…it is subtle but it is apparent to those who recognize a cat’s ways.
I am so glad you found Ellie..she is gorgeous & those eyes…..so soulful!

Yes, I am enjoying Ellie a lot…had to work hard on the house training but she gets it finally:) She is so personable and really smart, sometimes I feel she is inside my head as she seems to know my thoughts…and she is good to Minnie which was my biggest worry. And her eyes are incredible huh? Expressive and filled with her heart and soul! She makes me healthier too as we now go on our daily walks! Minnie is finally sort of ok with Ellie laying at my feet…she was not sure and at times she still is not sure…I am hoping they will find a connection too…if possible. Minnie has been by my side since she was a baby, she completely bonded to me and where I go she goes…and she is full of energy and life, she has slowed down a bit but her personality remains completely catankerous:):):)

Dogs learn at different rates…i am glad she ‘gets’ the house training! Those walks sound lovely. I miss the days of mobility & going for ‘walkies’ with one of my dogs….it kept me fit back then.
Ellie’s eyes are amazing…plus that ‘puppy grin’!! Bet she can get what she wants with THAT grin, lol.
I am so glad she & Minnie are getting along! Minnie looks like she has ‘cattitude’; nothing wrong with that…probably one reason she has lived so long…that & all your love!!!! ❤

🙂 Yes they do and I seem to learn with them as we go! The house training is hard but we are slowly getting it…and I wish you lived close as I would have you go with us on the walks:) That would be fun as I would have someone to talk to and Ellie would like that too! Oh yes, Ellie’s eyes and grin get her lots of mileage as she is so very cute and her eyes are full of love for you, she can melt my heart when she looks at me with those eyes…she will come up to me and put her chin on my leg and then look at me with those eyes! She knows and yet she truly means it that she loves you:) She is so smart!
Minnie does have LOTS of cattitude and she has been such a joy in our lives, especially mine…from the beginning I was her Mommy…I had a swivel rocking chair in the TV room, it had a rounded back and Minnie would lay up on the top of the chair at night stretched out on the curve of the rounded back and then I would rock the chair and she rocked with me too…it was a hoot to see as WB took some pictures to show how silly it looked from behind…Minnie is a love and I do love her very much. I have already told Ellie from the get go that Minnie is number one in the house…she is the Queenie of my house! Ellie is very curious of Minnie but she leaves her alone and will only watch her when she walks by on the way to her food bowl. Minnie and I have a special bond that goes way deep, she is my girl and I love her lots. I love Ellie too but in a doggie way and yet she has my heart as well….so long story short, I am trying to keep them both happy and to know that no matter what I love them both very much:)
Sending hugs and prayers for you and Nylablue…and lots of gentle soft strokes too for Nyla, she is such a pretty kitty angel…and so very sweet, and so very special.

Yes our puppy loves the hoof clipping too…she had her first experience with them a few weeks ago and our older dogs love them as well…so funny that they like them…maybe calcium in the trimmings but not sure what is in the nuggets:)

I know I wondered the same thing….what draws them to it…I do remember my Dad’s Australian Blue Heelers also loved to find something dead to roll in…now that was disgusting as they stunk to high heaven! Ellie loved her first taste and was very drawn to them to chew on….of course she is loosing her baby teeth and getting the adult ones so right now she chews on everything!

She s gorgeous and they grow up so fast 😀 I just wished she could have stayed longer with her mum – 6 weeks is way too early for a pup to leave. I m glad she has other dogs around her who can teach her all she has to learn ♥

Thank you:) She is so personal and sweet! She did not come home with us until she was 9 and a half weeks old:) The breeder did not let any of the pups go until they were over 9 weeks old so her mother dog and several other Aussies they own taught her alot before we brought her home…she is so very smart and learns quickly…she pretty much is with us all the time as I wanted her to stay with me in the house:)

Oh she is so sweet…and she wants to be with us. Aussie’s strive to always be with you as they are born with the natural instinct to be with their families and to protect them. Our grown Aussies will always walk in front of you so they can check things out…and if you go to the house, they will keep watch to see which room you are in and follow you from window to window.

She is so cute, her eyes are sweet and you just want to hug her:) It’s funny but every cow dog that my folks had when I was growing up and then after WB and I married, every cow dog we have had is the same way…they love to roll in it and snack a bit on it! The other thing our dogs always like is when the horse shoer comes to do our horses, when he trims off some of the hoof, the dogs will grab a piece and gnaw on it for hours!
