Golden Days Of Summer….

Golden days of summer is dedicated to those dealing with freezing temps and bitter cold…along with snow and ice…and nasty winds producing impassable drifts…in other words Old Man Winter.

SONY DSC

I gathered a few favorite photos from last summer and fall…I hope they will warm you up with some encouragement that soon…those warm days of summer will return!

SONY DSC

My flowers last summer went viral…and were amazing!

And Ms. Ellie Belle…she is with me all the time. She is 100% Australian Shepherd and I am her herd…

DSC06374

She seeks to protect me so she always walks in front of me checking things out…and she goes into defensive kill when she senses danger of any kind. We love this girl lots…she has a beautiful heart like Minnie…I think Minnie sent her to be with us.

SONY DSC

Here’s hoping the spring and summer of 2015 will be warm and beautiful with incredible skies and weather!

Sweet Paw Prints Forever On My Heart

Sweet paw prints forever on my heart is the story of my forever love, for a little green-eyed kitty girl named Minnie Mouse…she was my beautiful kitty angel girl…full of sweetness and vivid colors with defined stripes and Minnie dots with lots of white splashes here and there.

Yes, I'm Cute

“My Sweet Minnie Mouse, you wore a coat of Minnie colors designed by God above! We had almost 20 years together…you made such a HUGE impact on our lives…and also on others…you were My Heart Kitty, Who Truly Made My Life Better:)”

SONY DSC

My Dear Min-Min I miss you so much…you have been gone almost eight weeks and I look for you when I round the corner of the kitchen or

IMG_2993

When I go upstairs or when I sit on the sofa or…or…or…

DSC04210

I’m used to seeing you laying in your favorite spots…on the back of the sofa so you could look outside and watch the birds…

SONY DSC

On our bed at night snuggled next to me…

SONY DSC

Riding shotgun with me in the office, in your very own office chair, with your heat pad under your Navajo blanket… which had good wooly nubs for you to rub and roll on your tender skin and soft coat of Minnie colors, a purrfectly good kitty scratch…

DSC04132

And in the living room, how you always curled up where I sat on the sofa when I went to town for the day,

SONY DSC

I would come home and there you would be, waiting for me to return while keeping my seat warm, with a hint of kitty annoyance that I left you for the day…

IMG_2861

And you snuggling up in my horse quilt on my lap when we watched TV, rolling over on your back just like the above photo, wanting me to rub your soft white tummy as you loved for me to stroke and itch all the places you could not reach. I miss you Min-Mouse…my beautiful sweet girl…I miss you much.

DSC01075

I remember when you first came to live with us you were so teeny tiny….you fit in my hand and as you grew and got a bit stronger you chased your toys under one of my antique cupboards that you could also fit under! After you chased a real mouse under there, he was too scared to come out so he died at some point and made an awful smell…I unloaded all the dishes I had stored so that Dad could roll the cupboard over to get the smelly mouse out of the house and to our surprise you had a dozen of your toys under there too….after that Dad made a wood cover to cover up the narrow place where you crawled under it…we didn’t want you to get stuck too!

IMG_2870

I miss you playing on your Navajo blanket that you truly loved…and doing catestetics chasing that darn red mouse!

SONY DSC

And I miss the sound of your sweet claws clicky click-clicking each morning on the wood floors letting me know “Here She Comes, Purring Along The Way.”

DSC01087

After Christmas one year, you decided the small figurine my Mom gave to me of a small girl who fell asleep in her saddle, while riding her white pony was your play toy at night…the figurine reminded my Mom of me when I was little on my first horse, Prince who was white…however, the girl was yours and you loved to drag her off her pony by her hair every night after we went to bed…you were so funny and very determined! That girl was yours…and yes I was!

SONY DSC

And all the times you raced Dad to the office when you thought he was going to sit in your office chair…

SONY DSC

You were so cute, we always laughed as you won the chair every time…you were a very classy, sassy kitty girl, my Minnie Mouse and yes, you reigned as the Queenie of my House!

DSC01721

When I first saw you, I named you Isabella or Bella as you struck me as a very regal kitty…as a nickname, I often called you Izzerbee, as you were my sweet kitty girl from the get go…

CCI00002

Until Dad taught you how to mooch and he began calling you Minnie the Moocher, but I liked Minnie Mouse better and you became my Minnie. Every once in a while I would call you Izzerbee or Bella or Isabella and you would look at me like you knew exactly what I was saying…you knew who Izzerbee was. You were so smart and intuitive as you truly were the “Cat Who Knew Where It Was At!”

DSC01822

You loved to play the clown to keep us laughing…you were always in the moments of my life…full of sweetness and God’s grace. Going through every part of life with me…through the illness of both my parents…first, loosing my Dad and a year later loosing my Mom…

DSC01807

You played the kitty clown as you loved chasing your tail or the air on your very cool kitty scratcher…you knew it was a tough time and you played the funny kitty girl to make her humans laugh and we always did:) !

DSC01821

When I went through breast cancer, you became my kitty angel nurse, attaching yourself to me like glue…WB always knew where I was in the house by seeing you in various windows…you were so loving and caring with your big heart and beautiful green eyes.

What

I remember the night when we came home after being gone 10 days to Oregon Health Science University Hospital, you were beside yourself with love and worry for your Mommy…and the night before traveling back to OHSU for my post op…you insisted on laying next to me…something you never did before. I knew something was not right in the surgical site but you knew much more…it was a blood clot and when my Dr. saw me the next day, I was in emergency surgery within the hour to deal with the clot.

DSC06074

And you tried to protect me from your illness during the last weeks of your life…you tried so hard and you were so very brave my sweet Minnie…you were very strong and so beautiful as you tried to live your life as normal as you could…but when I found you asleep in your litter box, I knew there was something very wrong…and there was. You did not have the strength to get out of the box, as it took all you had to get the few feet to the box from your comfy bed on the sofa…I cradled you to my heart to comfort you as I carried you…and stayed by your side 24/7 those last days to help you…bringing water and food to you. I did not know until your doctor examined you and found your heart was failing with Congestive Heart Failure.

DSC00238

My Brave Sweet Kitty Girl…we knew it was time to let you step away and into God’s heaven where you would be free of suffering and pain…it was ok for you to go my Min Mouse. I could never wish for you to stay here with me knowing you were suffering.

SONY DSC

My beautiful kitty girl full of heart…my forever kitty girl…and my forever heart.

DSC07196

Now you are safe…and you are well and in God’s kitty heaven playing and eating catnip greens with Nylablue and lots of kitty angel’s just like you:)

DSC07235

I love you Minnie Mouse and I will forever hold you close in my heart until I see you again…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We will have a happy reunion with lots of purrs, tummy rubs, head butts, more kitty purrs, chin rubs, ear scratches, eye rubs and more belly rubs with lots of snuggles!

DSC03304

“God Bless You Minnie, God Bless You And Keep You, May God’s Face Always Shine On You. You Are Precious In His Sight And You Are Precious In Mine. I Love You Minnie Mouse…You Are the Queenie Of My Heart and My House Forever:)”

“Rest In Peace Sweet Angel Kitty Girl”

May 14, 1995 – November 24, 2014

I’ll Love You Forever, I’ll Like You For Always…

I’ll Love You Forever, I’ll Like You For Always, My Baby You’ll Always Be, Oh My Minnie Mouse…My Sweet Forever Kitty Girl!

Yes, I'm Cute

It has been a very tough few weeks here…I’m sorry to be so long in writing new blog posts…I hope I have not lost any of you that usually read the blog…I have lots of new photos and lots to tell you in future blogs…however, for the last several days, words escape me and tears come easily…you’ll see why.

IMG_2870

I have very SAD news, our Minnie Mouse crossed the Rainbow Bridge, slipping peacefully into Heaven, last Monday, November 24th…a week ago tomorrow. I was so not ready to loose her. The last week of her life her health began to slowly fail, and by the end of the weekend, I knew something was not right as her back paws were swollen. Minnie’s vet examined her Monday and found that Minnie was in Congestive Heart Failure or CHF…it was such a shock as Minnie had always been so healthy and we did not see it coming at all.

DSC00311

I have cried buckets since Monday…my words are yet stuck…it has been a wordless week for me. Even so I am trying to write memories of Minnie and also her memorial as with almost 20 years together, I have many good stories to share with you about the pure love of a very special kitty, my beautiful Minnie, who will forever be the kitty of my heart!

nylab-selfie

My good friend, Sherri-Ellen also lost her beautiful kitty girl Nylablue (photo above) on November 22, a week ago yesterday…it has been a mighty rough week for us both as Minnie and Nylablue became best friends during this last year. When Sherri-Ellen learned that Minnie had crossed the Rainbow Bridge, she did a memorial blog about Minnie, despite her own grief, it was so very sweet of her and much appreciated. I have heard from many fellow bloggers the last few days that left their condolences for Minnie and I…and I thank you, your caring words have hugged my heart…I am not alone in my heartbroken grief. I will answer each of you very soon…

katchat-by-da-fire-wif-nylablue

I urge anyone reading this to hop over to Sherri-Ellen’s blog and leave her your condolences/thoughts on loosing Nylablue, (Nylablue had beautiful blue eyes and was so pretty) it has been very hard for Sherri-Ellen…loosing our precious kitty girls hurts deeply as they are part of our family and become a huge part of our hearts/lives, we miss them dearly. Sherri-Ellen’s link below will take you to her blog, you can read her memorial to Minnie Mouse and also hear more about her sweet kitty girl Nylablue.

http://nylabluesmum.wordpress.com/2014/11/27/minnie-mouse-has-joined-nylablue/

Sherri-Ellen is an amazing kitty Mom with tons of love and she loved Nylablue so much!

DSC00483

Last Friday as I was writing to Sherri-Ellen to thank her for Minnie’s memorial and the many comments I had received…we had a very short rain shower and when I looked out I saw a double rainbow!!! A double rainbow as one for Minnie and one for Nylablue. I tried to capture the two rainbows but the second one did not show very well…you can see it faintly behind the prominent rainbow to the left of the photo…I felt like Minnie and Nylablue were letting us know they crossed the Rainbow Bridge together as best friends and they were happy…it was a beautiful sight to see! To the naked eye, both rainbows were vivid and quite bright…the second rainbow seemed to shadow the first rainbow.

DSC07196

The above photo was taken last summer of Minnie in our yard, (she loved exploring the yard as she lived inside our house)…she was 19.6 years old this month and would have turned 20 years old, on Mother’s Day, May 10th, 2015.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Minnie came to live with us in 1995…the owner could not find a home for her and asked if I would take her and of course I said yes! She was maybe 5 weeks old…and I became her “Forever Mommy.”

DSC02961

When I saw her precious little green eyes peeking out of the hay…and then her little striped head popped out and baby Minnie greeted me with the sweetest mews-mews…our eyes met and I knew she was my special girl…my forever kitty girl.

DSC03304

Tears are running again…I miss Minnie so much!

God Bless You Minnie Mouse!

CCI00011

“I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, Your Mommy I’ll be!” “That means eternity my Sweet Minnie Girl.”

When God says I’m done here, I’ll see you in Heaven…Summerland…Across The Rainbow Bridge, My Baby Kitty Girl!

“I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, Your Mommy I’ll be!”

HRCG is over and out for now…

Summertime…Oh Sweet Summertime…..

Summertime…oh sweet summertime! How I love thee, let me count the ways.

DSC07263

My number one love of summer is being outside and enjoying the season. Every evening we are on the patio watching the colors change…drinking in the beautiful summer nights…breathing in the country air while making new memories to add to the days of old.

DSC06967

I love summertime and all that comes with it, hot temps, harvest, dust, lemonade, flowers, and always horses…mix it all together and you have a perfect summer!

SONY DSC

Ms. Melody is enjoying the evening out on her pasture for a few hours…I love seeing our horses free and grazing the pasture in their natural state. My Dad had over 25 horses on the cattle ranch that I grew up on…they were working horses as by the week’s end we had each ridden several of them gathering cattle, traveling over 20 to 30 miles in mountainous country so we did not have to worry so much about grass…I worry about my horses today as they do not get the same use and exercise…with horses you always have to be thinking about their health and keeping them safe. We check them everyday making sure all is well…

DSC07069

There is so much natural beauty outside during summertime…but honestly, each season has its own beauty and I enjoy them all!

DSC07052

Beginning with spring, we often have puffy clouds drifting lazily overhead casting shadows on the landscape, while a sapphire blue sky peaks out…click goes my camera!

DSC06815

A summer blessing appeared this year as Dad’s trees are blooming once again:) A few years ago during a record drought, they were dying from lack of rain, while this year they bloomed, bringing back the wonderful sweet smell of the blossoms…they smell absolutely heavenly!

DSC06814

They have become a part of the ranch and have been a constant in my life since I was small…Dad planted them on top of the hill gradually bringing them down to the end of the arena where I practiced barrels and pole bending…and where my Dad would stand patiently timing me and saying “Come on go, hurry, go go go…yah you did it!”

Marcy and Red Doing Barrels

Dad used to team rope and calf rope when I was smaller and I would run the 12 and under barrel races at whatever small rodeo we went to. Mom was long suffering as she was our cheerleader and support! When Dad built the arena, he built it for roping, it was set up and ready to go for calf roping and team roping with friends. Dad’s trees have stood silently by through years of both good and bad times, having weathered life well…while passing the test of time this year, with a re-birthing of new life in their branches:)

DSC06983

Ellie girl is loving summer too as this is her first grown up summer and she is ready for new adventures “Come on Mom, lets go”…she loves exploring on our walks as I look for new photos to capture…she looks for new places to dig holes and explore.

DSC07344

She gave me a perfect Ellie shot…she is so cute how she always has her head down and bottom up when exploring…I love my Ellie girl:)

DSC07358

The last few years we have had odd weather…it has been great for me to capture pictures as I love the ever changing weather for photo ops. In this shot, can you see the eyes or the Zorro mask?

DSC06649

Ominous storm clouds rolling into the canyon, drifting over us…

SONY DSC

No make that scary clouds! Hang on Toto as we must be in Kansas!

SONY DSC

After the storms, we usually have an awesome rainbow…I love trying to capture the colors as they are full of natural beauty. Our God is an amazing God…He gives us a beautiful world to live in filled with miraculous scenes if we look for them!

DSC07050

And then there is Minnie…our 19 year-old kitty who is exploring summertime green grass…she loves summer too and will sit in the window day and night sleeping against the screen so she can smell the smells, hear the sounds and feel the cool air. This summer I have taken her outside each evening that we are outside so that she can taste the grass, taste the air and breathe deeply all the smells that kitties love.

DSC07196

After 19 years as an inside kitty, she has earned the time to explore the yard…smell the smells and feel the grass under her paws:) I stay close to her and watch over her…once we go back into the house, she sleeps like a very happy and contented kitty girl:) She is precious and all heart, as she lost her vision and hearing a few months ago…yet she is determined to live her life as fully as she always has!

DSC07218

“Mom…what is Minnie doing outside and she’s eating the grass!”

DSC07205

“Mom, tell Tucker to mind her own business…this grass is darn good!”

DSC04398“Grass…where?”

SONY DSCAs the day slowly fades and sunshine turns into twilight, intense colors appear painting the sky above with a jaw dropping sundown as the

DSC07339

Surreal light of “magic time” transforms the sky and the landscape with an array of softer, yet vivid, ethereal colors, creating a feel good afterglow…and a peaceful night.

DSC04384

“Mom…seriously, where is the grass? “

DSC07222

To be continued…with a grass-eating kitty and a few horses who wonder where that grass is!

SONY DSC

“Did she say grass?”

_MG_2166_2

I’m back after taking some time off…I have missed you all! Thank you for your support and encouragement on this road called photography, writing the story and blogging!

SONY DSC

Have A Happy Brand New Week!

In The Blink Of An Eye…

In the blink of an eye…life can forever change.

SONY DSC

Life seconds and blink moments can knock us off our feet, with either good or bad surprises…I usually blink a few times while digging my heels in to either celebrate the good or to fight the bad…we can never give up! As I often heard growing up, “Go catch up your horse, saddle up and be ready to ride hard!”

DSC04707

June 12th was a warm summer day and Ellie our Aussie pup (she is looking at me with her sweet Ellie look) was going to have her first birthday! We were so excited for her and wanted to help her celebrate with lots of love and fun Ellie style!

SONY DSC

However, we had an appointment to go to in the big metropolis that we live close to…and we also needed to do some much needed shopping…we would be home later that day to celebrate operation EB!  (EB is short for Ellie Belle:)

0318_met_COLUMBIARIVER_PK

We left early that morning heading to the city…Costco had been sending out telepathic message waves to me to come shop the new stuff…as well as various stores we like to shop…like Ranch and Home…Home Depot…the Mall…Yippppeeee!

SONY DSC

After months of doing without…it is very serious and labor intensive for the country cowgirl to shop ALL the stores she wants to shop in a couple of hours! I keep telling WB we need to spend a night when we do this…he replies with a grrrunt!

DSC01548

It was a sunny and warm day with lots of promise for fun…we laughed and talked about what we needed to do as far as shopping.

DSC05113

We knew we had to find our Ellie girl some awesome new chew toys for her first birthday. We shopped some here and there, ate lunch and ended up with Sadie Suburban packed brim full after Costco…and the day was gone!

Sharp_80inchTV_35029961_08_540x405WB wanted to prove a new record by stuffing a new 80″ TV into the Burb as “He and Ellie would love it for her birthday and it was such a good buy.” But…I said NO not this time unless you want to ride on the roof…geesh!

994250_655722517790577_1917850162_n

It was after 6:00pm when we had the Costco groceries loaded…would have loved staying for dinner but we had a birthday to celebrate! Our little country cowgirl was waiting and she depended on us to bring her home a few fun toys, with lots of love and lots of fun treats!

DSC07142

Did you know that Schwan’s Ice Cream has Doggie Sundaes as in ice cream flavored like meat? Well they do and Ms. Ellie had hers for her birthday celebration! She loved it!

OK back to driving home.

© Focal Point Marketing

By the time we pulled onto the freeway the winds were blowing and picking up to 30 to 40 mph, we had heard on the news that morning that late in the afternoon we would have heavy winds. I mentioned to WB that wind and dust storms often delivered conditions just right for wrecks on this freeway. Thankfully the dust was not blowing yet as we could see quite a ways and it was still light.

semi-truck-on-the-highway

Less than 5 minutes later we went by an exit that had several trucks and cars merging into our part of the freeway….we were in the left passing lane as the traffic was merging into the freeway in the right lane…and then…like a nightmare, a Honda Minivan was jetting across the lanes trying to avoid being behind the semi-truck we were passing in the left lane…

ATL-12947-1223204716

The driver was trying to cut into our lane but there was no room between us and the semi and yet, he kept coming towards us like he was trying to push us off the road, by merging into us.

Precious Life Seconds Passed…

DSC04962

WB kept his cool and kept steady on the wheel…I braced for the wreck as the van came so very close…close enough that our mirrors almost hit!

sub_09_grey_a

I was certain he was going to hit us full force into the side of the Suburban in front of my door…WB laid on the horn and by the grace of God we were spared. It was very serious and very close…the worst close call that I have ever been in as far as close wrecks.

CCI00010

I thank God for my husband as he kept a cool head…he has always been a good driver. If the van had hit us we would have spun out…ending up between the van and the semi along with many cars behind us or rolling.

DSC06879

Neither of us said a thing or emitted a sound during those eternal seconds of life…we both knew how close we came!

DSC06828

Thankfully God made a way for us to survive. I hope the van driver learned a lesson on driving and how life can change quickly with impatient hot-headed driving!

DSC05139

Meanwhile, Ellie Belle had a Happy 1st Birthday!

DSC06355

She is so very cute…she is our kid and we love her lots!
