Kiah Sweet Kiah, Yippee Ki Yi Yay…God Bless You And Keep You Always!

Every once in a while when you grow up living on a ranch…you will own a special dog, a once in a lifetime dog, a dog filled with heart and love for you…and your heart fills with love for them and they become your forever friend…the best dog you have ever had. When we lost Kiah December 30, 2012, we lost one of the best…she truly was our heart, our girl, our silly Ki Yippee Yi and we loved her so much.

SONY DSC

Many of you who have followed my blog have been introduced to Kiah…looking at her face, you can see her heart in her eyes…she was so smart and intuitive as she seemed to know what you were thinking!

SONY DSC

Kiah came to live with us in June 2011…turning a year old in September 2011. A good friend of ours mentioned to us that he knew the breeders were looking for a new home for Kiah and he told them about us. I called them and drove a 400 mile round trip to bring her home:)

SONY DSC

Is she not beautiful? I fell in love with her the second I saw her…her cute face and her beautiful coat of colors. When we got home and she got out of the pick up behind me…my hubby, Wild Bill fell in love with her too. I knew God blessed us with Kiah as we needed her and she needed us:)

SONY DSC

Kiah was immediately part of our hearts…she was full of love and so full of spirit. Our other three Aussie’s loved her too…Auz, the oldest in front just grunted at her and that was it. Dash liked playing with her and she loved to playfully grab his ears in her dog game version of “Speed Runs By Dasher To Grab Ears Hee-Hee.” Tucker in the back was not a huge fan at first as she had been the only girl for several years.

SONY DSC

But Ki loved Tuck anyway and Tucker eventually loved Kiah too but, she was a bit jealous of this new cute doggie girl, who liked to take her toy or stick of the moment away, see it between them? Tuck is daring Kiah to try it. And if Ki managed to get it away from Tucker she would bounce around the yard with the stick doing the dog style of “Neener Neener”…while Tucker would try to keep up barking at her the whole time…it was funny and quite cute to watch as eventually Ki would drop it and let Tucker have it back:)

SONY DSC

Kiah was very very human…she knew what you were contemplating and she understood your emotions in a very uncanny way. I don’t know how to explain it other than to say God made her different. She was a part of you and you immediately connected with her and she with you. She loved to crawl up into WB’s lap as she loved to cuddle…she was a large part of life here, our Kiah girl.

SONY DSC

“Don’t forget us Barn Lions!”  “We loved to watch her torment both Tucker and Dasher with “The Neener Neener Game!” “We just meow-laughed with hee-haw meowsy chuckles…plus we had a good view!”

DSC01580

I loved her silly smiles and grins when she bared her teeth…and I loved her eyes when she squinted them into little slit eyes that were so cute!

SONY DSC

“Mom…I can squint my eyes and smile showing my teeth too!” I know Minnie and you are my baby too…my kitty angel that I love very much.

SONY DSC

And I know you loved Kiah and she loved you…she sniffed your nose through the window and would smile at you…at first you were sort of like Tucker but then you warmed up to her too.

SONY DSC

“Uh what?” “I didn’t kill the bird Mom really!”

SONY DSC

How can you be mad at a face like this? Kiah had so many expressions, and she was so cute:)

DSC01581

But she could look mean too…she loved her family as all protective dogs love their family. I just miss her. Everyday I find myself looking for her as she would go hang out in the shop for a while to be sure WB was ok and then she would run up to the house and peek into the windows to be sure I was ok and all was well…then once she knew both WB and I were ok.

SONY DSC

She would do a speeding bullet run up the hill to survey the ranch below circling back down to make sure the horses were ok too.

DSC01611

My Yippee Ki Yi Yay…

SONY DSC

Who loved sleeping in my dirt flower pots like a curled up colorful doggie flower…ahhhh…make that muddy doggie flower:)

DSC02129

The day we buried Ms. Kiah…it was getting close to twilight time and I noticed out my kitchen window that the light looked sort of an odd color of gold on the hills…so I grabbed my camera and headed out the door in my socks no less as the light was changing quickly and I wanted to capture a few shots.

DSC02134

After a few landscape shots I looked up and saw the most incredible golden skies above. None of the following pictures have been photo shopped or light roomed or manipulated…just my eye and my camera took the shots capturing it well…I love my camera:)

DSC02140

Clouds with all kinds of layers and odd shapes…filled with golden swirls and colors of ember golden light.

DSC02147

I felt that Ms. Kiah was sending us a message from heaven saying she was well and happy…playing in God’s glory and all was well:) That she would see us again someday when we get to heaven and she plans to be in the greeting party with our parents and family members, along with various horses, kitty cats, and dogs.

DSC02172

I shot 44 pictures of this amazing sky…the layers of clouds with the incredible light and colors were truly not normal for this area…like Kiah who was unique and full of beauty.

DSC01618

God is good and I do believe He said something like this…”Ms. Kiah, welcome to heaven you cute little girl:)”

SONY DSC

“Now come over and let Me have a look at you…oh you are so sweet and cute…we are going to send your Mom and Dad a message and you get to pick the colors as you are a colorful little girl…and I made you too:)”

SONY DSC

I could keep going as I have so many more special moments to share with you but, I know having a ton of photos can be boring to your readers at times and I need to learn better how to pick and choose. With Kiah, I wanted to share her heart with you all, as she was so special, and we were so blessed. I hope you have enjoyed seeing parts of her very much loved life with us.

DSC02154

However, I do have to show you one more short set of a true “Kiah Moment”…a photography sequence that will make you smile…she was good at posing and looking adorable:)

SONY DSC

“What?”

SONY DSC

“Huh?”

SONY DSC

“Oh, yeah I totally agree Mom.”

SONY DSC

Our sweet Kiah may you rest in God’s arms and heaven’s peace…we LOVE you and hold you tightly in our hearts forever.

DSC02144

We will never forget you…we miss your sweet spirit everyday and night.

SONY DSC

Our Sweet Kiah, We Love You Forever And We Like You For Always. Forever You Will Always Be Our Kiah Girl:)

This is such a sweet tribute post about Kiah! It’s 2:30 A.M. and I just washed my eyes for the first time this morning. It might be obvious to those who follow my blog that I love animals. I will openly admit I love animals more than 99% of the humans I’ve met.

I grew up in a rural home but not on a ranch. We had dogs, cats and parakeets. As an adult I had quite a menagerie of pets that I dearly loved. It tore my heart out to have to put a few down from old age. Cats, especially if they wander inside & out, have a way of taking care of their own passing. Each dog was special and I loved them all. (Another eye-washing Break) So thank you for the post and the memories it evoked.

I am glad it brings back touching good memories of your animal babies…even with having to loose them we can hang on to the good memories and fun times we had with them. Kiah was always so happy and she made you smile even if you had not had a good day….she was funny and silly as somehow she would know you needed a laugh and then she would love on you:) I love animals too and my heart breaks every time I hear of animal abuse….awful. Animals are so loving with unconditional love and all they ask in return is our kind hand and heart. Having to make the decision to help them to step into heaven is the hardest. I LOVE each one of my animals, Minnie, each dog, each horse and each kitty as each of them have their own unique personality. Warm wishes to you with memories that bring a full and happy heart.

She was an amazing friend and had such a kind spirit…never ever once offered to chase the horses….she just liked hanging out with them and would visit them sniffing noses and watching how they eat grass so one time I saw her try it too. We are truly sorry for your loss. She was a very sweet dog. May you take comfort in knowing that each soul has a mission for which it comes down to this world. And dogs, because they don’t suffer from human egos or other such human afflictions, don’t have any alterier. And G-d, who never remains in debt, pays these souls hansomly, as only the Truly Infinite can.

You did an awesome tribute to Kiah she would have been so proud of how you felt about her. I think your right about the sky it was like God was sending you a personal message that Kiah arrived safe and sound. I know you will miss her always. The dogs on my blog Animals in heaven are my current crew of 4 legged love that share my house and farm. The border collie you see is just like Kiah its as if he knows every thought I have. The black and white Landseer Newfoundland dog on my blog is Indy he is my therapy dog and we work in a lock down unit for Alzheimer patients. In the short time we have been working together I have seen that dog connect to patients who have stopped communicating with the world around them. I don’ tknow what it is about animals but even the most lost human being can be drawn in to the unconditional love they provide and find comfort and peace for a time. I think Kiah would have made a great therapy dog she was very sensitive as well smart you could see it in her face. I am glad I was able to share the Psalm 36:6 with you and I am so touched that the Lord showed it to me in my time of need. I hope once we both go to heaven and are rejoined with our loved one ‘s and animals that we both could take our dogs on a run together and enjoy all that the Lord has provided for us forever. Take care and Godbless

:) Thank you so much Jen…Kiah was a true gift from God…and I agree that she sent us a beautiful message just like her…she wanted us to know that she was ok and safe. She was the most brave dog as she hardly made a peep and when I saw the x-ray I cried and knew that she was suffering in love as she did not want us to know….but I also believe that God had taken her into eternity time which is different that our time, so she did not suffer but knew she was going to be ok and would see us again. We loved her so much. All your dogs sound just like our various dogs and kitties and even horses….each one has a gift and different personality…animals are so pure and intuitive and I truly love each one of them. I looked into doing therapy with horses a few years ago and I have heard of both dogs and cats ministering to all ages…they are so in tune with God.I was thankful too for Psalm 36:6 as it brought me great comfort and I shared it with a friend named MJ as she has an aging dog and is feeling the pain of knowing that time is shorter. We will plan on doing our run with our dogs…Minnie, my 18 year old kitty girl, will have to go with us too:) She is always with me and seems to always know our hearts. I have to tell you a funny story about Melody, she is my 8 year old mare….well she gets very jealous and pouts if she thinks I show Annie who is 3 more attention and Annie is the same about Melody…so even 1000 pound horses feel and think….humans make me upset when they say animals do not feel or think…animals are truly God’s gift. In writing about Kiah the last few days it brought some healing to my heart, lots of tears too but I was very blessed to have so many memories with her…and you are right, I miss her and tears do come easy but I know she is ok and in God’s glorious heaven full of His love:) Sending you prayers, hugs and God’s Blessings:)

That is so cool:) And so God:) I know it will take time yet to heal, my heart still hurts for Kiah, but I know she is in a better place than me and having fun….I can just see her digging holes for squirrels that in heaven are her friends and it is just a fun game to play, like hide and seek:) I am sure she is bouncing around looking at God’s incredible glory and all of His creation….and I can just see her smiling at Him with her cute smile and doing the eye squint. I miss her but someday I will get to hug her again:) Hugs and prayers for a warm God night to you and your family:)

I heard somewhere that time is different in heaven and one day in heaven is like a thousand years on earth and that made me feel better when I had to put my percheron mare down last fall because when she was in heaven it would only seem like she would be there for a short time when all her horse buddies would join her and than Jim and I would be there. That thought always makes me feel better when I think of my animals that have already passed on and are waiting for me and Jim to join them I hope it brings you some comfort as well. Take Care Jen

Truly it does…I love all my animals so much. We do have lots in common…I had to put down my horse Hobby in 2008, one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make…she was only 9 and so beautiful…I loved her so much…she is buried here next to my Lottie horse that I had from the time she was 2 until she died at 20…it is so very hard to loose our animals as they are part of us, they are family and it takes time to grieve and accept that we will see them again and I know we will. God gave me a vision of Hobby and Lottie touching noses in a glorious green knee deep pasture and I know it was His comfort to me that she was ok and with Lottie…someday I will ride them both and I have already told Minnie my 18 year old kitty girl that in heaven she can ride with me too:) Hugs and thank you.

Thank you for your thoughtful and kind words. Loosing our family members, both human and animals is the hardest part of life…and Kiah was so young yet we figured she would be with us for many good years a head. I have worried more about Tucker as she will be 10 this year in May and Minnie Mouse, my kitty will be 18 in May but Ki was a year and a half and so full of life. I miss her silly puppy antics each day when I am out and about, her cute smile and silly games she played with the older dogs. She was so human and we loved her lots.Thankfully I carried my camera and caught lots of good pictures of her and we do have so many good memories of her. Wow, only a year and a half. Sometimes things make no sense. Your kitty is really doing well, though: curious–is he/she eating commercial cat food or do you use fresh. I notice the commercial is loaded with glutens and so many cats are getting diabetes and thyroid problems these days. Our old guy (similar age) looked like he was done for and I switched up his diet away from the glutens and into a bit more meaty stuff and he perked up, lots of symptoms eased off, and went for nearly another year.

I am sorry to be so long answering…it has been a crazy few days…first of the month and I do all the bookkeeping for our business as well as advertising. I totally agree that there are times that make no sense and we will never understand or figure why until we get to heaven someday. I miss Kiah everyday as still being full of energy that young dogs have she was always with us, ready to play or just smile and be with us. Minnie is doing well and luckily she has never been a sickly kitty. The worst thing she had was an annal abscess which was not good and very painful for her but she healed up quickly and then the last couple of years she has had a couple of uti infections. Overall in her almost 18 years she has been playful and healthy. And boy does she have a unique personality…when we got her and her sister who was a tuxedo kitty…Minnie bonded with me and her sister bonded with WB. We lost her sister when she was 8 years old and I worried Minnie would be depressed but she was ok….we were depressed and saddened. Minnie was barely 4 weeks old when I got her so I am her mommy. Answering your question on food….from the time she was a kitten I have had her on dry Science Diet. Currently she prefers SD Mature 7+ years old Hairball Formula..she has eaten this one for years….like ever since it came out. She is verrrrry picky and refuses to eat any canned foods or any other Science Diet dry food. With the annal abscess the vet thought it would be good for her to have more moisture so he suggested canned pumpkin…nope…they he said tuna…nope…hairball paste…nope…and again canned food…I tired every kind I could find…then I got another opinion as Minnie has gotten more constipated as she has aged and it bothers her so we tried I think it was Blue Natural dry food…or something like that and nope she would not eat it…she only weighs about 7-8 pounds so I could not bare to let he go hungry very long in order to eat the natural food. She is even picky about her treats…she loves greenies but they have to be a certain flavor…she loves it when we bq as she loves steak, hamburgers, bacon, chicken sometimes and occasionally salmon…what was the name of the food you switched to? Was it easy to get like at Petco or Pet Smart? It is interesting sounding how it improved his over all condition etc. I would love to find Minnie something that improved her being constipated. Last week she had a touch of throwing up which I did not see hair in…one time it was just ground up checkers and then another time I think she gorged herself on her water and threw up rather clear looking water stuff but she felt fine. I worry about her all the time of course as she is my baby. She is funny as when I leave for the day or if we are gone a few days she pouts once she sees my suitcase and I try to nto stress her by waiting until the morning we are going to leave before I pack…we always have a house sitter for her and she is not happy with that either…but when I come home from a day away she will be happy and at some point she will swat me as if to say you left me and I am mad at you so there! If we leave for a few days I often will find a little hard poop somewhere letting me know how dare I leave. She is very human and communicates well to me…..I love her lots as you can probably see. I feel very blessed that she is with me at her age. She has gone through many times with us and is a huge part of our life. Sorry for the long answer…I love sharing about Minnie and her cute antics and furry little life:) Wishing you a beautiful day…I am seeing signs of Spring…fields are getting greener and we are getting more sunshine:) Yeah:)

Wow, I totally relate to how much you love Minnie. She has some crazy eating antics! I’ll bet all that steak and meat you give her is what keeps her going. Somehow, I think that’s the kind of things old cats thrive on. I’m trying so hard to get my little girls to try new things but they are junk food addicts. So far, one of them has taken a shine to German salami, which was not my top choice for health food! I will keep trying, though. I am glad to hear you are seeing signs of spring; it gives me hope. School is closed here, roads are blocked up with accidents and the entire world is white. The snow is coming down relentlessly. So you can imagine I love to hear of any signs of Spring! Take care.

You must be back in the East where I heard today that there is a winter storm barreling down hard in places. I do hope we are done with snow here but every once in a while we will get a freak snow storm in March…last year we did towards the end of March. We do need moisture here for the crops etc. but…anymore the older I get the more I love 85 degrees and nice. So what was the food that you tried with your older kitty that was more natural? I am sending lots of spring hope and warm thoughts your way:) We are located in the drier part of OR. way over in the Eastern part…we do not get the rain and gray days the way the Western part of OR. around Portland OR. I like our more arid drier weather here:)

Oh, lucky, lucky you to be in beautiful Oregon! I grew up on Vancouver Island and I surely miss the West Coast on days like today!
I switched my old cat to a lot of steamed fish, chicken and meat that I made for him, as well as eggs. All salt-, sugar- and gluten-free. Reading the labels on the dry and canned food, I could not believe cats were meant to eat those things. Also, I read that there has been a steep rise in diabetes in cats in the last 30 years (same as humans) and it has to be the diet. Now since then, I’ve read the book Wheat Belly, and realize that neither humans nor pets are meant to be consuming that stuff, and that it is in absolutely everything; my father eliminated wheat and CURED his diabetes and long-standing thyroid problem (old cat also had thyroid problems) in just a few months. I think modern wheat is good for world hunger, but not for North Americans and our pets!
Thanks for sending the spring warmth and hope! It’s helping!

I do believe we are blessed to live here:) You know this certainly makes sense to me too…I will begin to try more meat with Minnie and eggs too…I have heard that thyroid and diabetes is on the rise not only in humans but in our animals too…has to be a connection to the diet and all the chemicals in our foods that preserve them etc. Minnie loves her meats….she is funny as she will gently tap your leg if you are eating something that she likes:) She will tap a few times in a mannerly way and then….if you have not given her a bite she will hook you:) She is so funny…when she was younger she used to chase a ball and pick it up and bring it back to you to throw again for her to chase after:) Stay warm and thank you for the info:) I love your design skills too:)
