Gray Haze Brings Layz Blahzay November Dayzes While Minnie Mouze Snuggles In For Winter!
With the ever changing landscape, normal objects look surreal as if held by a magical time warp…is it 2012 or 1962?
You are now entering….”The Twilight Zone…a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man, a dimension of imagination.” Oops, sorry I was getting a bit lost in the 50-60’s.
Minnie Mouse says “Not complaining about time warps-de-warps at ALL…I love my heat pad, good wintry zzzz’s…as I get more of both along with kitty strokes and loves…as Mom is finally stuck with me in the house:)”
Peekaboo sun shines out a morning “Hello” on a steely gray dawn…like a flashlight lighting the way for us to see our way for the day.
This year I had many incredible palettes of colors in the sky on warm summer nights and bright days of delight…now as we switch gears to seek out the colors and images of winter, we will find a different beauty.
Artistic skies that draw your eye into a different monochromatic world of color, with layers of gray-blue colors, blending magical shadows on the familiar landscape. A view that stirs a photographers delight and fills my heart with winter light, full of quiet inspiration for the profound beauty that I see through the lens of my camera, of the land that I have lived on forever and all my life.
Fun winter images and great photo moments to play with light on gray frozen days:) Shooting memorable snapshots in time and exploring different angles with my camera…smile “Yippee Ki Yay Yah!”
Summer skies will return full of God’s glory and heartfelt colors…and once again, I will stop what I am doing, looking up and grabbing my camera, knowing that I am blessed to live here on one of God’s slices of heaven on earth.
“Fanny Annie” will be posing for my camera with her sleek and shiny red coat once again…she is “One Sharp Dressed Lady!
And then there is snow that comes with winter….hmmmm. I have to admit I like it for Christmas week as long as it stays firm and frozen. When I was young here we usually had a white Christmas as I remember sledding down the hills…for the last 30 or so years we rarely have a white Christmas. A few years ago we had a brilliant Christmas morning to wake up to and I was on the move early to capture snow photos! This is part of the shop frontage that we designed to look like an old-time service station, under the bat and board siding is a steel shop…Wild Bill restored the antique gas pumps and added the hitching rail for my horse…with the old Chevy Pick Up and drifts on the roof and on the ground…is it 1930 or 2012? I hear Rod Sterling again with Twilight Zone music…doo-do-doo-do-doo-do:)
A beautiful image of our classic farmhouse in the snow…until it melted and then we had a mega mud mess. I got stuck in four-wheel drive in my Suburban in our driveway by the house that winter, incredible for me! Our parts delivery trucks for the shop got stuck as well as WB so I felt better:) It was a different winter as the ground was not frozen enough when we had the snow hit and as it melted it was like Jello.
This is my Melody and the fence is three rail…thankfully she did not step over it! Minnie said I got sidetracked as usual…writers…visions and memories and words…words and more words…sometimes I even wonder where they come from? Minnie what were you saying?
“Mom, get your warm sweater on, wool socks and slippers, then ahhhhh relax…it’s house time…now get that dang camera out of my face…see this paw and the kitty stink eye look?” “Well I am also giving you a cute love look too:)” “Meow, now, where was I?”
“Oh that’s right…roll back to the right side…hang paw over the chair…look cute for Mom…and here come the kitty loves and pets:)”
The beauty of summer will return with nightly visions of iridescent colors…images that speak softly to our hearts.
And yet, despite the cold, there is a beauty in winter…with the colors of glistening silver, brilliant vivid whites and various shades of silver grays…crystal particles that sparkle and softly float through the air…as the snow falls silently to the ground. There is a purity to the landscape and a serene quiet to the land that feels divinely holy…all of a sudden the dirt, the sage brush, the weeds on the hillside, the tumble weeds and the trees are covered with a beautiful garment of white. I love every season, not too crazy about being out in the freezing temps, but with my Carharts on I am good:)
Tucker and her other two buddies all got new doggie beds and yet here she is outside doing her guard duty….she is such a good girl!

Hi Hot Rod Cowgirl. I was searching for a red/orange sky to use as a texture composite to replace the sky from one of my pics and fell in love with https://hotrodcowgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/dsc08254.jpg – It works perfect for the shot. I’ve tried other textures but this one gives the tones I’m looking for. Difficult for me to get open sky pics as I live in Charlotte, NC and there’s tall trees everywhere. 😦 May I have permission to use the pic for a Photoshop composite? The pic will not be used entirely, only about half of it for sky overlayed with Photoshop behind a building and same half inverted vertically creating reflection over a body of water. Thank you.

I am glad that you found me again:) I love our Aussie’s, they are such smart and loyal dogs:) I haven’t had a Catahoula dog yet but have heard they are good cattle dogs….we used to always have Blue Heeelers for the cattle and I loved them all too…of course I love everyone of our animals:) One thing I like with our Aussie’s is they do not get as bored as our heelers did.

Thank you:) I love Tucker’s red merel coloring and her eyes are so very deep and expressive:) Minnie loves hers….it is between two thinner blankets so as not to burn her….if you find a good one for cats, let me know:) Where I live everything is either buy online or do without….have a wonderful day:)

No the one I had and my Dr. had was a human heat pad….mine is in a cover but Min like her wool blankets so the heat pad has the cover over it and then is between the wool blanket on the top and bottom….I usually set it at medium for her…..I should go look at Pet Co or something too.

This looks great:) I wonder if I can get them here in Oregon? Minnie loves her heat pad so much now that when I am in the office all day she never complains or meows around like she used to…..it is so cute and funny now that when my hubby and I are sitting with Minnie in the living room and we get up heading towards to the office…Minnie will run as fast ss she can to get around my hubby and gets her chair before he can get it!!!

Oh Minnie loves it….my Dr. in town a few years ago had me stop in her office for something and I noticed her cat Rudy was happily content on one of the office chairs while her nurse was on the computer and I mentioned that Minnie would get mad that I was on the computer in the office…they laughed and said once they got Rudy a heating pad he was a happy camper:) So I got one for Minnie and put it between an old Pendleton Wool blanket….she loves the feel of the wool…and it was perfect…so her pad is between two rather thin wool blankets to keep her safe….she loves it and as she is older now the heat helps:)

The sixth photo is my favorite–love those clouds–looks like a painting in a museum. Glad to see how well-cared for Fannie Annie is. It really distresses me to see thin horses “grazing” on bare pastures.

Thank you so much:) I know I love watching God’s sky painting:) It upsets me too when I see horses on pastures that have no nutrition and are not cared for. Annie ittle paddock is not her pasture…the paddock where I keep her next to the house is just a paddock so she can be close to me….she is yet young and being 3 years old I am developing her continued trust in me and humans…our pastures are across the road from the house with irrigation guns…I have to watch my horses verrry close on those as they can over eat and either colic, founder or get too fat. Melody is an easy keeper so she gets a few hours of grass a day and then she is locked up in her paddock/stall next to Buck….they are both across the road right now as we moved two of the portable horse stalls over right across from the house so I can see them. Annie is right outside my window and thought it looks like a thin pastures of grass it is basically a paddock area where she gets 15 pounds of good grass mix hay twice a day….mosre if she needs it as she is yet growing. Owning a horse means you take care of them with feeding, health issues such as yearly vacinations and worming 3-4 times per year….going to the vet for their teeth check up and etc. and caring for their feet as well as feeding correctly and riding them:) I get mad too when I see people with no reason to have a horse that they can not afford to take care of….it is sick.

Thank you so much:) You are right it would make a great Christmas card! This week we have had freezing fog and no snow yet….it is cold enough to snow…we have four wheel drive but if it is icy freezing rain then I stay put….don’t mind driving on snow floor but not ice or deep slushy stuff….

Kind of funny but us Eastern Oregon drivers do not like to come to Portland at all when you all have ice or snow as so many drivers do not know how to drive on it…I don’t like it either but having grown up in the country I had to learn to drive on it safely:)

Come over yonder to Eastern Oregon and head over the mountains towards La Grande Oregon….the truckers call it one of the worst mountain climbs and passes in the NW…it’s right out of Pendleton called Cabbage Hill…locals know and stay home but it does get you into practice again…and sometimes out here our roads close due to blowing snow…
